Forrrrre Your Rehearsal
Spring Fashion 2009 For Women
With St. Patrick's Day behind us, and April promising us a warm springtime, it's time to cast off those heavy, drab, wintry garments and get into something airy and colorful. And women are still looking ultra feminine this year.
In 2008 we saw styles that took us back twenty or so years to the Eighties, and we're still visiting that fashion period. You'll want to choose bright, colorful prints in floral, tropical, or brushstroke patterns. Polka dots will stay popular. You'll see neutral garments, too, but remember to use them as a backdrop for accessories that pop.
Ruffles, bows, and sequins will be everywhere. If you are slender, go for the ruffles along your neckline. If you are fuller figured or have a large bosom, forgo the ruffles but look for smocking or lace trimmings that will catch the eye. No matter what you choose this year, you want to remember two words: COLOR and COUPONS!
Fabrics: For the Feel of It
Thankfully, fabrics are staying swishy and malleable. Look for Jersey knits or polyester mixed with Spandex or Lycra, or polyester/rayon blends. With a rayon blend you want a touch of Spandex added for comfort. You'll also enjoy cotton/polyester blends as well as linen, and of course 100% cotton. For dress-up, expect to find fabrics intermingled with metallic blends or bands of sequins, because sparkle is a part of it all.
Pants: All Over the Leg
Last year's jumpsuits are still popular, the wider-legged the better, and they'll stay full length. Waistlines are belted, shirred, or otherwise enhanced. For glamour outings, you can find many jumpsuits in elegant fabrics and colors, and the wide legs glide along almost like a skirt. Some strictly casual pant styles will stop at 7/8 length, and it is a crime if you don't take advantage of this with an eye-catching shoe. With the most playful pants, some women still like the feel of the low rise. Business casual pants are just about waist high, with an emphasis on waist bands and cuffs that set off the pants. Pantsuits include the traditional business casual pants as described, and the jacket will sizzle with a double or wide collar and shoulder pads.
Dresses: Dress It Up, Dress It Down
If you are substituting a pantsuit for a dress, at work or an evening out, look for a ruffled blouse to wear under it. If you can't wear ruffles, go for a metallic chemise or tank top. Corsets and corset bodices have made a comeback. Skirts-attached to the dress or just on their own-will be full and feminine, or fitted and slinky. Expect a lot of high-waisted dress styles this spring, with the top featuring a peasant style or other scooped neck as well as plunging Vs and boatnecks. Flowing, long, casual dresses are back in style. No matter what length you go, the neckline will be something different; remember Angelica's neckline at the Oscars?
Accessories: Where the Action Is
Cardigans, blousy and belted, or belted jackets are still great fashion statements. Wear them with your dress at the business office or atop your jumpsuits. You can even layer cardigans for a special look. Scarves are practically de rigueur. Use them around your neck; use them around your waist. No matter where you put them, the scarves must be vivid and bold! Shoes will have high heels this year like we've seen on Carrie Bradshaw.
A Look in the Mirror...
One of the key pieces of advice we have is to save last year's spring and summer clothes, because fashionistas are not done with them yet! Last year's styles can be updated and enhanced in lots of ways. Use your imagination and have fun!

America Ferrera Makeup Look Wearing Lancôme
First, before applying any makeup, Vanessa prepped the skin with Lancôme Genifique, a youth activating concentrate that improves tone, texture and luminosity giving the skin a natural glow. To create a flawless complexion, Vanessa used both Lancôme Effacernes concealer and Armani Lasting Silk UV SPF 20 Foundation. She used Armani Fluid Sheer #2 as a highlighter and applied it with her finger to the cheekbone and brow bone. This gave the complexion a bit of added shimmer. Lancôme Color Design Cream Blush in Pret a Plum was applied to the apples of the cheeks for just a pop of color. Shu Uemura Cream Eye Shadow in Beige was lightly dusted on the eyelid and Lancôme Artliner in Noir was applied to the upper lash line. Several coats of Lancôme Ôscillation mascara were applied to the lashes for added length and volume. To compliment America's pinky/coral frock, Lancôme La Laque Fever gloss in Cyber Coral and Techno Brick were mixed together to create a high-shine pout.
1960 Travel Wardrobe - 7 Days in London
The daytime wardrobe consists of red, white, navy blue, and pale grey, colors that will all co-ordinate nicely together. Accessories not shown included navy shoes, a navy umbrella, a red hat, and a red shoulder bag. The evening wardrobe is black, worn with a small fur stole, black shoes, and pearl and gold jewelry.
1. Red wool reefer coat piped and buttoned in navy blue by Anne Fogarty. The coat works with everything else in the wardrobe except the bouffant evening dress.
2. Pale grey suit edged in dark grey by Handmacher. The suit is perfect for business luncheons, and the wool fabric releases wrinkles overnight.
3. Navy blue silk sheath dress with white trim by Deb-Time. This dress is perfect as a "morning dress" for casual shopping and lunches.
4. White silk twill blouse with navy and white check wool full skirt, both by Sloat. White cashmere cardigan by Pringle. The separates are perfect to wear with flat shoes for touring art museums and a walking tour of the city.
5. Navy blue linen sheath dress trimmed in white by Anne Fogarty. A dressier alternative to #3, this sheath is perfect for upscale shopping, afternoon tea, and cocktails.
6. Black silk jersey draped top and skirt by Toni Owen. Perfect for evenings at the theater or night clubs.
7. Black silk organza full skirted dress by Rappi. Well worth packing and perfect for gala dinner parties.
Whew! Notice there are no pants included in this wardrobe, but I wonder if she did pack some for casual wear in her hotel room. I also found it interesting that there are two similar dresses, one for "morning" one for "afternoon", each appropriate for different activities. And note that one would choose a dressier dress for shopping at upscale department stores as opposed to smaller shops. No wonder a gal had to travel with so much luggage!
We love you Clodia!

Reality Studio SS 2009

Review: Bee Luscious Spring/Summer 2009 Palette
This palette is from Bee Royal Products and costs $70.00, which is reduced from $79.95. I'm aware that sounds quite a lot of money for a palette but I will explain why it's such good value later on in the post.
The palette measures 23cm wide, 15cm high, and 1cm deep so it's a little bigger than a MAC 15 pan palette.
Within the palette you get 16 eye shadows (15 shimmer and 1 matte), 2 matte blushers, 2 shimmer blushers and 2 lipsticks. So that's $3.81 per product. The $70.00 price converts to around £49.00 (according to xe.com on 30/03/09). I'm working in ££ simply because that's my currency. MAC eye shadows cost £9.79. I know I mention a slightly higher price in my video but tax is slightly reduced for a few months, £10.00 will be the price when tax is raised again at the end of the year. So, for 16 eye shadows from MAC you would pay £156.64, quite a lot more!
With the palette you get a piece of paper which tells you the names of each product. I've glued mine to the top of my palette as it kept falling out! Actually, it's a lot better having that loose bit of paper than having the names printed on the bottom of the palette or not at all!
I know I'll get asked the question - "Are they MAC quality?"
Yes, they are. They surpass MAC in my opinion. But then I don't find MAC to be the be all and end all of quality makeup. I can find shades in this palette similar to some of my MAC and the Bee Luscious ones are so much softer and more pigmented. Some of the swatches below may look a little sheer but they're supposed to be highlight, shimmery reflections of colour rather than a block of colour for the lids. They're soft, pigmented and so easily blended. The matte shadow is rich in colour and in no way chalky.
Swatches are swatched in the same order as the palette.
-Charm
-Bullet
-Fetish
-Eggplant
-Yellow Diamond - one of the shimmery highlights
-Envy
-Distressed Khaki
-Morning Moss - the other highlight
-Blue Dreams
-Backstage Blue
-Moody Blue
-Fantasy
-Daffodil
-Washed Denim
-Neo-Plum
-Orange Zest - matte shade
It may look a little bit of a mish-mash of colours but there are so many combination in here!
The two matte blushers are a heavy application.
-Natural Beauty - matte blusher
-Rose Bud - matte blusher
-Coral Sun - shimmer blusher
-Sparkling Rose - shimmer blusher
-Micro Ticked Pink - lipstick
-Micro Flamingo - lipstick
I did find the "Tickled Pink" lipstick very sheer, it only showed up on my lips as a sheer shimmer. I thought both of the lipsticks were somewhat drying, but I will be trying them over lipbalm next time I use them. The lighter of the pinks might be pretty over a darker lipstick to add some shimmer.
So, overall an absolute brilliant palette. It might be considered a little pricey, but I think it's worth every penny.
How to Shop For Wedding Gowns and Dresses
To come up with the desired attire, first you want to have a wide selection of wedding gowns and other dresses. How will you find them? You can look in bridal magazines where bridal wears and fashion are featured. Also, consider browsing online which can give you several bridal wear ideas you might want to consider. There are dozens of online stores that sell bridal gowns and dresses, they include online catalogs for customers to easily access their items. Also, another cool thing about online shopping is, they can offer cheap bridal gowns for those who have a tight budget. But to order your own wedding dress online, you need to consider some details so that you can avoid any problems.
When purchasing your bridal wear, whether it is from a local bridal shop or online store, you need to make a decision first on what type of wedding dress you would like to buy. It is important to understand what style or design you would like to have for your dress before you start searching. Considering there are too many selections of styles in the market and it is a complete waste of time searching for nothing in a bunch. You have to be specific in picking the right gown for you.
Another important rule, the style and design of your wedding dress should coordinate with the wedding theme. For instance, you have a traditional wedding theme, which is very basic and casual, so probably you want to choose a more formal dress. However if you have a beach themed wedding, your gown should be less formal. Whether it is formal or informal, the most important thing is the dress should match the theme of wedding you want to have. If shopping online is your preference, you need to try your desired dress at the bridal shop. In this way, you can make sure that the dress fits you, also to help you ensure that you are really purchasing the dress that you want.
Also, you need to follow your budget preference by comparing different prices for your gown. Remember, you can compare not only prices of your bridal accessories from online stores but also from local bridal shops. Wedding ideas can be very expensive, so you want to be very picky as to accommodate your budget preference.
