Red Hot Deals!

Good Evening, Readers!
Tonight's post is all about some fantastic savings I've stumbled upon lately. As you probably know, CVS is having a great beauty sale right now, 50-75% off of select items. I was there yesterday (actually, I had to use the restroom. How these products manged to get into my cart and check themselves out is beyond me) and got a few things, and noticed that they were all bright tomato red and they were all Revlon. Well in my defense, I really love this color, and Revlon is one of my favorite drugstore brands.
I bought a Revlon Colorburst lipstick in Coral, Revlon Super Lustrous gloss in Firecracker and a bottle of polish in Red Hot Tamale.
Indoors, no flash, lightbox

Coral lipstick isn't a true coral, it's really a red-orange without any pink tones. I love the Colorburst lipstick formulas- they're not at all drying and they glide on so easily. I think I'll wear it tomorrow for picture day.
Firecracker gloss is one I've been wanting for a while. It came out in 2010, as a part of the spring collection and I remember everyone on MUA freaking out, unsure if these shades were perm. I'm happy that I finally got it today. It's really quite orange and very sheer, like the color of the inside of a persimmon. I think it goes well on top of Coral lipstick, it warms it up even more.
Indoors, flash under lightbox. 1x Essie First Base, 2x Red Hot Tamale
and 1x SpaRitual Base and Top Coat
Red Hot Tamale polish is just what it sounds like, a screamin' red creme. It covered nicely in just two coats. It's a light enough red where it doesn't look bloody or stark against pale skin, just a very warm and inviting shade.
Altogether, I paid around $6 for these three lovely red items because they were each 75% off.

I would definitely advise you to head on over to a nearby CVS if anything catches your eye!

Products purchased by me, for my own use.

January Favorites

This past month was a lazy one. I was getting up late more than not and so I didn't have much time to come up with sophisticated or creative looks. Quite often, I did a very simple and neutral eye and used blush and lipstick to bring some color to my face, but I have been changing these a lot, so finding favorites was hard. But well, a few things did stand out.

The BodyShop Vitamin E Face Mist.
This, I love. I am reaching the end of the bottle (don't worry, I have a back up). I spray this on top of my makeup, not that I'm sure it makes it last particularly longer, but the spray helps getting rid of any powdery aspect and gives a beautiful luminous finish to the face.
I also spray this on my Mac 266 angled liner brush that I use for my brows, before dipping the brush in my Illamasqua brow powder. I find it makes the brow powder more intense and really long-lasting.

Mac Stereo Rose MSF.
I am really really late on that bandwagon. I didn't get it when Mac relaunched it last Spring, and kind of regretted it. A friend of mine owned it but didn't like it on her, so she gave it to me and I'm really grateful she did because I absolutely love this powder! It's actually pigmented enough for me to wear it as a blush, and it's less of a glitter bomb than some other MSF's are, so it gives me that perfect "lit from within" look.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Mascara.
It's not extraordinary but it's good, and lengthening. What I love about it is that it's really really black and the brush allows you to catch the roots of the lashes very well, so that gives an intense aspect to the lashline. Too bad it's not more volumizing.

Givenchy Les Frangipaniers in Island Tan (LE)
When it's snowing and the light is very blue, I find it easy to play up the paleness and use very cool-toned colors. But January has mostly been grey and rainy and I was tired of looking sick so I went back to bronzer and this is the one I like the most for this time of the year since it's subtle and illuminizing.

Clarins Everlasting foundation (103 Ivory)
I was really missing this foundation so I got it in my Winter shade (last Summer I was wearing 107 Beige) and I'm glad we're reunited. This is a no-brainer for me when I have little time to get ready (as it's quite high coverage and can double up as concealer) and a long day ahead of me (since it's extremely long lasting).

Mac Face&Body Foundation (C1)
The opposite of Clarins Everlasting: this one is very light and runny, and gives a natural and dewy finish.  Since my skin was pretty good most of the month, I could get along with this and a tiny bit of concealer.

OPI Ski Teal We Drop
There are a lot of nailpolishes I like from this Winter collections but this one I always get back to. Just love the blue color and the very glossy finish.
EcoTools Concealer brush.
I am not using it for concealer at all, rather as a large eyeshadow brush for applying and blending. My go-to look this month often was a wash of Mac Brule and a bit of Mac Satin Taupe in the crease to give depth and this brush is great to apply the shadows quickly and blend them at the same time.
