Instant Like! Mallika Sherawat at the White House Dinner.

How fabulous does Mallika look!

At the Annual White House Correspondence Association Dinner hosted by President Barack Obama, Mallika was resplendent in a White Shahab Durazi dress.

Gone were the bling, OTT hair and make up.

FAB!

Spring ready! Tory Burch.

Wearing an Erdem floral dress, Tory gave a very summer worthy look by sporting another label.

I loved all the dresses from this collection of Erdem (Lust Lust) and have seen a variation of the same dress on Emily Browning at the Sucker Punch promotion.

Tory wore the look well, matching the dress with multi colored sandals.

Instant Like! Ellen Barkin.

Seems like Ellen Barkin has a soft spot for this silhouette, but why not?

She looks like a billion bucks and that green eyed monster worthy rocking body!

Catch Ellen in another L'Wren Scott in here

Bollywood/Hollywood - Mallika Sherawat.

Of late, Ms.Sherawat has been giving us more sightings in Hollywood than in Bollywood.

The very obvious silk shawl aside, I really liked this look of Mallika's, the print and the color of the maxi/dress was to die for and the make up and hair were in sync with the outfit.

In Vera Wang - Leighton Meester.

In her second Vera Wang sighting  last week, Leighton dazzled in a gleaming chocolate draped dress which she paired with golden pumps.

Although the pumps seem to take a bit of attention away from the dress, Leighton was a stunner.

The same Brian Atwood pumps were also seen on Emma Roberts a month ago.

Who wore it Better? Neha Dhupia vs. Rihanna.

At the DKMS 5th Gala, Rihanna was in a look which was very reminiscent of Neha's look at Zee Cine Awards.

Both walked the red carpet in tiered dramatic black gowns with similar silhouettes, both had hair up in chignons and both wore drop earrings.

Do you have a fav? For me, although Rihanna looked lovely, Neha is a clear winner. The dress was a dream on her, her hair, make up and accessories were bang on and it was the one of the best ( if not THE Best) I have seen Neha look.

Do you think otherwise?

Guerlain Terra Inca Summer 2011 Collection

Guerlain Terra Inca Summer 2011 Collection. Guerlain brings us something different with their summer collection and it's right on trend with bright hues and super pigmented colors of orange and blues. The collection hits stores this May and I can wait to grab my hands on these. The colors and the packaging looks absolutely amazing.

Guerlain celebrates the arrival of summer with a color-drenched, incredibly chic Terracotta collection! With colors ranging from ocean blue, flamboyant orange and ardent browns, this ultra-trendy collection invites you to experience a stunning technicolor voyage.

Terra Inca Star Powder

Terra Inca Star Powder is composed of two subtly pearl shades: a highlighting golden beige and a bronze-tinted pink. Together these shades will embellish your complexion while warming the skin with an iridescent glow. The case mimics the extra-large wooden bangles worn by fashionistas, making Terra Inca Star Powder the “it accessory” of summer 2011!

* Combine with Terracotta bronzing powder to illuminate tanned complexions or use on its own for a natural glow.
* Apply to curves of the face to add instant radiance to the complexion.
* Apply to the décolleté and shoulders for a natural shimmer.

Terre Indigo 4-Shade Eyeshadow

The catwalks have set the tone: summer will be flashy! Guerlain reinterprets the trend by creating interlacing, intense colors, sprinkled with golden arabesques. Like colorful Incan qompi fabrics woven from shadows and pigments, the Terre Indigo eyeshadow unites all of their tones into a single palette. A vibrant orange, an intense blue, a deep brown and a lighter brown, speckled with a pale golden tone, can be used together or separately to match your every desire and mood. These soft, light powders caress the eyelids with a velvety touch for a natural or sophisticated result that is always mesmerizing.

* “Simply chic”: apply the light brown tone to the eyelid, layer the orange shade on the upper part, then give more intensity to the eyes by applying the darker brown to the outer corner of the eye.
* “Trendy”: apply the orange shadow to the eyelid fold, sweep a single blue tone over the eyelid and add a small amount of light brown to the outer corner of the eye.
* “Fiesta Vibe”: apply the orange tone to the entire eyelid, add the blue shadow to the eyelid fold, then apply the light brown shade along the lashes and the dark brown shade under the lower lashes. Dressed in a golden glimmer, sea sparkles and sunlight, the eyes are ready to show off a bold look!

Ombre Fusion Cream Eyeshadow

Ombre Fusion Cream Eyeshadow is a unique creation that offers the softness of a powder, the richness of a cream and the lightness of water all in one. These exclusive eyeshadows reveal a spectacular metallic effect by adorning the eyelids with fabulous shimmering reflections. The effect is striking and will last from dawn to dusk. Designed to resist heat and dips in the ocean, the Ombre Fusion eyeshadows are the first Guerlain cream eyeshadows specially created for summer! Available in 3 shades: 01 Bahia, 02 Havana, 03 Maya.

* Apply the eyeshadow to the eyelid with the applicator, then blend in with fingertip to create an illuminated effect.
* Use the beveled side of the Ombre Fusion applicator for a metallic liner effect.

Terracotta Gloss

Just in time for summer and plenty of scorching kisses, Guerlain presents three new Terracotta Gloss creations. Neon fuchsia, sunny coral, flamboyant red make lips look mischievous and ravishing, dangerously delicious. These neon colors are sheer on application and will add shine while giving an instant radiance boost to the face! Their secret? A luminous and translucent formula, free of sparkles but packed with pigments. This non-sticky gloss can be applied at any time of day for an ultra-sensual effect.
Available in 3 shades: 07 Salsa, 08 Mambo, 09 Tango.

Khol Kajal

The cult favorite Khôl Kajal by Guerlain returns to light up the eyes with its ultra-pigmented formula. Its creamy texture glides on perfectly, making it ideal for women who love a deep and hypnotic look. Upon application, the eye is instantly accentuated! Dressed in dark and iridescent brown with two ribbons of brown and orange satin, it is a summer essential. Available in 1 shade: 01 Black Frida.

Instant Like! Sridevi.

Really!

How gorgeous does Sridevi look? The pale pink and lace creation from Karen Millen does wonders to her and props for going bright on the lips, the combination of red lips and the platform heels totally work!

I say, there are quite a few current Bollywood actresses who should take tips from her.

April Favorites

April looked a lot like Summer around here. All kind of wild flowers appeared in the garden in the course of 2 days, and the neighbor's cats have been wandering around and sunbathing on the patio. That obviously called for some changes in makeup.

The Oil Cleansing Method +  Shu Uemura pink cleansing oil.
It's been almost a month since I started using the oil cleansing method, and I am very happy with the results. I haven't gotten rid of all the blackheads on my t-zone yet but my skin is much clearer and since the initial purging phase that lasted a week, I haven't had any blemish or even random white head on my face. My skintype is also closer to normal than it's ever been.
I currently use a blend of Almond oil and Castor oil twice a week, and on the other days I use either almond oil or this Shu oil. What's great with the Shu oil is that it's emulsifying and easy to rinse off without using the very hot water, so it's not drying at all for my skin.

Becca Luminous Skin Color.
I have been wearing this in every possible way: on its own with a bit of concealer, in combination with a cream or stick foundation, with or without powder... I just love it, it's glowy and it evens out my skin perfectly. Definitely a keeper.

Becca Silk Hydrating Primer.
I got this one last Winter so I'd get a bit of hydration under my makeup as my skin was very dry. Then in my project to wear the full Becca Skin Perfecting System, I went back to it and now I wonder: how did I never realize before how much a primer helps in keeping your makeup perfect all day???
The only thing I don't like about this one is that it comes in a tube, and the formula is very liquidy, which regularly causes blobs of unwanted products to splurt out of the tube. A pump would be better, other than that, the products works great.

Diorskin Nude Freshglow Powder.
I was reminded of this product after seeing a recent Makeup Geek video. This is a mineral foundation but Marlena uses it as a powder as it gives a flawless finish and never looks powdery. I have been using this on my t-zone, applying with my Illamasqua Blush Brush (which is soft but with a flat top), on top of the Becca Luminous Skin Color.
It is indeed not matte, even a bit glowy, and doesn't look powdery at all.

Guerlain Serie Noire Blush G.
Yes, this one again. What can I say? I love the peachy glow it gives.

And of course, THE event of April was...

I know, I know, people were either very excited by the British Royal Wedding or totally bored by the mammuth media coverage. I'm not British, I don't live in the UK, but I like the idea of putting attention to a positive and romantic event for once - there's enough bad stuff going on in this world, why not enjoy a happy event?
I was of course looking forward to seeing the wedding dress Princess Kate was going to wear, but also her makeup, as she had declared she would be doing it herself.

Makeup forums have been buzzing with comments on that makeup since yesterday. My opinion is that I admire Princess Kate for wanting to be herself and keep her usual style on her big day. You may or may not like her makeup, the black eyeliner causes a lot of controversy among makeup addicts; but I think makeup is something you do for pleasure and for yourself, and if the new Princess loves her liner, well she did great in wearing it proudly for her wedding. I personally think she looked fantastic.

The YouTube beauty community is probably going to generate a million Kate makeup tutorials, but I wanted to share 2 that I really liked, and that achieve similar results with very different techniques - which I find interesting.

First one is by Katie Hugues, whom I have already featured on this blog. (She is now doing videos with her friend Sophie, who is also a professional makeup artist, you ladies should really check them out).

The second one is by the lovely Gemma aka Gemsmaquillage.

What were your favorites this month?

Review: Primark Prime Of Your Life Face Primer

A very kind subscriber managed to find this in their local Primark for me. I'd had a few requests to review it but mine never seemed to have more than a couple of bits of make up in stock. Mine is called In The Pink, I'm not sure if there are other shades available, and it retails for £3.00. Ingredients are not printed on the tube but are on the packaging.

The packaging type is reminiscent of Benfit's That Gal primer, the twist up tube. The Primark primer continues to ooze out slightly if it's laid on its side, creating something of a mess if I don't use it for a few days.

You can also see the primer has a peachy-pink tone. I had made sure to wipe off all the primer before putting the lids back on, only to be greeted by that lovely looking mess. I'm quite pleased there's a second cap inside the lid though, otherwise it would be very messy! Twisting it up is a bit of a nightmare! It doesn't seem to want to come out at first despite how carefully I twist and wait, only for loads to come out at once.

The primer has a very, very slight shimmer, which adds a little luminance to your complexion. However, even when blended into my skin, this has an obvious colour which I don't like. As I'm a lot paler than this primer, it shows up. Also, no matter how lightly I applied the primer I just ended up looking greasy.

I really disliked the way this felt on my skin, I could feel it as a layer on my skin. I really dislike that feeling. To me, a primer shouldn't be felt on the skin any more than a foundation should.

The packaging doesn't claim to make your foundation last longer or offer a smoother surface for foundation, just that it gives a "dewy, sexy complexion".

I just couldn't wait to wash it off.

For a budget friendly foundation primer, I suggest the ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer for £6.00.

At the Royal Wedding - Victoria Beckham.

Representing the fashion frat at the Royal wedding was Victoria Beckham.

Victoria wore, predictably, a dress from her Fall collection and paired the dress with Christian Louboutin heels and Philip Treacy fascinator.

Any other preggers lady would have chosen comfortable high heels for the day, but in true VB fashion, Ms.Beckham did go all out in  6.5 inch heels!

In Prabal Gurung - Eva Mendes & Rose Byrne.

It seems Prabal Gurung was the man to cap off a very fashionable week that it was.

Eva and Rose chose to wear Prabal Gurung's Fall Collections and did the rock the red carpet!

Eva chose a White organza strapless dress with black inner bustier and black waist band. The dress was a dream and Eva channelled a soft, romantic look with her dewy make up and feminine hair do.

Rose chose a dark pink dress with a dramatic neck and shoulder details. She looked lovely and wore the entire look very well. Departing from her last poker straight locks around the face hair do, she kept the bangs straight and locks around the face softer which totally worked.

BIG LOVE!

my photo coverage: Thor movie screening by Jollibee

P4294581
Jollibee organizes their own block screening of the movie of Thor last night in Eastwood Mall Cinema 6. Everyone was treated with a nice pop corn bucket, ice tea mint drinks and Jollibee chicken sandwich. Everyone enjoyed the Digital 3D version of Thor in cinema 6 of Eastwood Mall.I compared my experience watching it in IMAX and in Digital 3D, both 3D sides has different quality, I still prefer the regular format of the movie.
