16 survivors of the Star Movies’ movie marathon

I forgot to share this news to everyone about the recent Star Movies movie marathon contest that was held in Newport Mall cinema in Resort Worlds Manila. 16 movie fans survived the whole day movie marathon and will share the 100k pesos prize pot, they survived the long wait, challenges and cool airconditioned inside the cinema. I was there to observe and all of them are so serious in watching a movie, but hey! I haven't watch The God Father movie, If I'm one of the participant, my butt will be glued in the cinema seat, but too bad that I backed out a day before the event, I just realized that the I can't survive the day without any CR break.

A series of assassinations and killings served as the climax for both The Godfather III and the fight for the P100,000 grand prize for the year’s Star Movies movie event held at the Resorts World. (more news below)

After 14 hours, five epic movies provided by Magnavision, zero bathroom breaks, and no sleeping, only 16 out of 100 survived and emerged as true-blooded movie goers. These movie fanatics each shared the P100,000 grand prize – Abigail Bravo, Diana Melanie Roxas, Aldrin Jay Mariano, Jonathan Estomaguio, Emma Joanna Austria, Christy Florentes, Sharon Neyra, Aldrin Arquero, Alexander Alvarez, Ariel Carranza, Mark Allen Bonifacio, Adolfo Badiola, Don Lasky, Dada Lozano, Marisol Prieto, and Robertino Cruz.

Upon entering the newly furbished Newport Cinema Resorts World, the contestants were each given a Star Movies jacket to battle the first wave of the chilly cinema air. Throughout the marathon, unlimited food, drinks, and ice cream were continuously served to the contestants because they cannot go out once they have stepped inside the cinema and taken their seats.

For the next couple of hours, the participants would be put through the longest, most grueling, and most challenging movie marathon to hit the Philippines. The classic all-time movie favorite The Godfather opened the movie marathon at 10 a.m. Most of the contestants were familiar with the mafia head of the family Don Vito Corleone played by Marlon Brando.

Towards the end of the second Godfather movie, which stars Al Pacino as Vito Corleone’s son Michael, more than half of the contestants were still glued to their seats. But come the shooting sprees in The Godfather III, the number of viewers dwindled even as the prize money became closer to their reach.
After the Godfather trilogy came the adrenaline-pumped, comic-based movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, which stars Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Before the stroke of midnight, the remaining contestants watched Indiana Jones’s search for the Holy Grail in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

It was a hard-earned win that came with muscle cramps, nonstop movie viewing, and probably a bursting bladder. The Star Movies Movie Marathon raised the bar not only for movie marathons, but also for the endurance and stamina of Filipino movie fans. Only with Star Movies can you expect movie marathons to get this serious.
