Review: Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow "Skinny Jeans"

If there was ever a perfect make up item made, this could be it. Yes, I really did just say that. I originally planned to review all my Creaseless Cream shadows in one review, but this one deserves its own post.

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows are sold at Benefit counters for around £14.00. Quite a few colours are available. They are quite often compared to the MAC Paint Pots. They're not quite similar. The MAC version is much harder in texture than these and don't seem to work as well on me just as an eye shadow. The softer texture of these means that they smooth over my lid much easier. I don't tend to use the MAC Paint Pots just as a shadow, but I rarely use the Benefit Creaseless Creams as a base.

I wasn't hugely impressed with these at first but I kept seeing huge raves for Skinny Jeans over make up message boards. It was described as pretty much the perfect taupe. I wasn't really interested in cream shadows at the point, other than those I could use as a base so I pretty much ignored it.

It's a taupe shimmer. Greyish, brownish, touch of purpleish and goldish.

Fast forward to about a year later when I was down in London trying to kill time before getting my train. I ended up in the Boots on Oxford Street, stood in front of Skinny Jeans at the Benefit counter and though "eh, why not?".

Got it home and thought I'd wasted £14.00. I couldn't think of what to wear it with and it wasn't a good colour for a base. I put it to one side and pretty much forgot about it.

Then, one magical day, I dug through one of the sunshine yellow Selfridges bags in my make up cabinet and the little jar was sat there, untouched in its box. I shrugged, grabbed a brush and wow!! It created the perfect taupey smokey eye, all on its own. Just this cream shadow. I applied a couple of this layers and the colour was just gorgeous. A bit of mascara and I was all done.

It lasted all day! No primer, nothing over the top. Just this!! I didn't get any creasing or fading. Sometimes I add a bit of smudged black liner to add a bit more smokiness, but it really doesn't need much else.

I love it! It has become my fool proof look if I need something quick in the morning, or if I need to slap some colour on my face for a drink at the pub.
