SM Tickets was launched last week after the success of their e-tickets for SM Cinemas last November 2010 and this is another first in the Philippines to have a smooth purchase and reservation of tickets using the internet and mobile phones. Falling in line are no longer needed because your mobile phone or computer with internet can do the transaction fast and with no hassle. Concert tickets can be bought now anytime and anywhere.

The SM Tickets was unveiled last December 2010 through their website www.smtickets.com and Facebook page. This project is in partnered with Mobile Group Inc., both party started the BCode machine tickets for SM Cinema last year and now they cater the ticket selling not only for movies, but also for live entertainment such as concerts, musical acts, stage play, and even provide e-coupons for restaurants.

Purchase and selling of tickets will never be the same again, and we can now buy and reserve tickets even we are at home, at work, or in another place.

Here's how it works, after logging online at www.smtickets.com

- Once you've purchased your tickets, you will be given a choice of either receiving an SMS (eTicket) or printing the e-mail verification.

- Scan the eTicket on your mobile phone or your printed copy on BCode machines located at the venue and your ticket will print instantly.

- Or if you want to get your ticket in advance, print the claim ticket voucher and redeem it in any branch nearest you.

- BCode machines will recognize all mobile phones from colored LCDs to the old school black and white.

The printed ticket looks like a size of a calling card, and according to Chris Fong, Chief Information Officer and Director of Bcode, Tickets's design can be changed if the promoter wishes to change a design or a quality of their paper card ticket. I just heard him say that to a person who inquires about the look of the ticket. SM Tickets has a security feature, it has a fluorescent UV traceable ink, invisible UN mark, secure numbering application and screened logo with varnish, we can see here that the SM Tickets is impossible to be duplicated.

SM Tickets now carry tickets for upcoming live entertainment shows like Anberlin, Planet Shakers, Pulp Summer Slam XI, Justin Bieber, Switchfoot, Kenny Loggins, Maroon 5, Cosplay Mania and other fun-filled events. All these and more are in store for everyone this 2011.

Event and Live Performance promoters will be able to take advantage of SM Cinema’s 24 Million foot traffic for their marketing and promotion. SM Tickets is sure to break the seal of the entertainment industry with its 30 crowd-drawer events, 20 red carpet premiers, 100 plus advanced screenings, 52 ticket booths across 39 branches and still growing and a whole lot of opportunities and surprises in store for everyone.

At the Q and A portion, Henry Lapis, Business Unit Head of SM Tickets said that SM Tickets will be fully launched this March 2010 and it will start to occupy the selling area in all SM Department Store, it will be exclusive for SM and also to other branches of Odyssey with 750 units of the Bcode machine on deploy.

If you are wondering what will be the fate of Ticketnet inside SM Dept. store, well, they are no longer present because SM Tickets took over and this will be the SM Supermall's own ticket system for good, and in preparation for the launch of the state of the art coliseum being built now in SM Mall of Asia, the ARENA will rise and I think it will be finish before 2011 ends.
