Born Pretty Store is a nail art supply website that I've had in my favourites folder for ages. I'd seen it mentioned on other blogs and thought that I should get round to investigating at some point. They've got some nail stamping plates that I was quite interested in. I recently got to try one of their kits so I have been covered in Hello Kitty nail art since then! I am such a closet Hello Kitty fan.
Do you know how hard it is to get a picture of a silvered nail art plate? I've really ramped up the contrast so you can see the designs. You get the plate, scraper and stamper shown here for $3.88. The price drops per unit the more you buy. All you need to do is provide the polish (which you can also get from Born Pretty). Postage is free, with no minimum spend. My stamping kit arrived about 10 days after it was posted.
The plate comes with a layer of clear plastic on both the top and bottom. You need to peel the top layer off before use. I left the bottom layer on though. The edges of the plate can be quite sharp so you do need to be careful. The designs are sharp and clear when stamped.
My nail stamping skills aren't amazing but I was pleased to get a clear, complete design on only my second attempt at the stamp. Hello Kitty had no brain the first time I attempted it, I'm not sure zombie kitty is such a good look. I've got really small nails so the design looks really big, even on my thumb nail! And yay for laboratory cuticles *grumbles*, they never look nice. Oh, the polish is Eyeko's Lilac Polish, I feel that Hello Kitty needed something delightfully pretty to be stamped on.
I'm really impressed with the stamping plate, I've used a few of the designs now but the Hello Kitty is the only one I have pictures of. I do need to find a green stamping polish so that I can use the shamrock design.
