Review: Urban Decay De-Slick In A Tube

I finally bought this to try out a while back. It was on my list to buy for a while but I always get distracted at Urban Decay by the pretty eye shadows and palettes. But as my skin is getting oilier, I need to start trying out something that's going to help out with that.

Urban Decay De-Slick is available from counters for around £18.00 and you get 20ml. I noticed that the boxes of De-Slick were quite dusty at my local counter so they seem to be sat around for a while. When I got this home, I noticed that the contents had separated so I had to give mine a really good shake before using it.

Urban Decay De-Slick is a thick, white gel that smooths out into an invisible layer on your skin. You only need to use a very tiny amount, or else there is a noticeable feeling of something on your skin. This takes about 30 seconds to "set" and while it's doing so, it feels a little tacky until it is dried. It dries then to a matte finish that absorbs the oil on your skin.

You can apply another primer over the top if you wish, but you can also use the De-Slick as your primer if you wish. Foundation (both liquid and mineral) will apply smoothly over the top of this if you do use it as your primer. I apply this mostly to my t-zone as that is where the bulk of my oil comes from.

This definitely prevents my foundation from budging due to oil on my face. Without any primer, my foundation starts to vanish and I can feel oil on my face after 4 hours. With this, I get 8 hours before I start getting that feeling so my foundation lasts a little while beyond that before I notice the oil having an effect.

I've got mixed feelings about this. While it does help to reduce the oil on my face and make my foundation last longer, I don't feel it works beyond a regular primer and matifying powder. So it's possible that I won't repurchase this but I will happily use up the rest of this tube.
