Indie Shopping: LoveHues

Initial Impression: LoveHues is a new seller (1 positive feedback and 5 sales at time of order) caught my eye with their gentle, almost ethereal looking pigments. The photography of the eye shadows looked very clear with either a jar or pile pictured along with several types of swatches, although some of the swatches weren't very clear. All colours are thoroughly described, but no ingredients listed. I have asked about that, not 5 minutes after I ordered. There is quite a good range of colours available already with plenty in the taupe/brown range, though there are a few greens and purples in there!

ETA: I received a quick response from the seller, complete with ingredients. Each full sized jar will have ingredients listed on the label.

Order: Full sized jars of Castle Secrets and Opaline Moonstone at $5.99 each.
Shipping: To the UK - $3.00 for first item, $0.10 each additional item. Message sent through Etsy to let me know when it was being posted. Arrived just over a week after ordering.

What did I get?: My goodies came in a bubble envelope. Everything came wrapped in a little organza bag and my full sized jars were wrapped in tissue paper with a LoveHues sticker holding it together. While I don't expect my order to be wrapped up, I do appreciate the extra touch. It's like an extra fun present to open! Included was a hand written invoice.

Here it is unwrapped! The full sized jars have a LoveHues label on the top and an ingredient label on the bottom. The labels aren't opaque but are frosty. The samples also have ingredient labels on them. In addition to my order of two full sized jars, I received three sample baggies in Glimmer n Glow, Dove Grey Pearled Gown and The Girl Glows. The sample baggies look to contain about 1/8tsp.

I really like the whole presentation here. While I know that really doesn't have an effect on the quality of the actual product, it makes me feel like the seller really does care about the products. There's definitely a theme here, it's all romantic and pretty.

However, the full sized jars are just messy. I don't think the lid is quite tight enough on the threads. Both jars I have have a lot of shadow in the threads and it creates a lot of mess each time I open the jars. Even after I cleaned off the jar, it just happened again. I wonder if these jars were meant to have sifters which would tighten the lid. I've got a stash of empty jars that fit together without mess so I'll be transferring those over.

All swatches are done with a dry brush over Detrivore primer.

These were nicely pigmented. I think I was expecting them to be a little sheer given the overall soft look to all the photos.
-Opaline Moonstone - Looks very soft in the jar, the swatch applies with much more depth of colour. It's a lilacy blue with a copper-red shimmer.
-Castle Secrets - Silvery brown shimmer and some tiny silvery sparkles.

These were the samples I received, I found the colours chosen coordinated nicely with the full sized jars I chose.
-The Girl Glows - Described as bright, pearled nude. I couldn't think of a better description.
-Glimmer n Glow - Rosy peach shimmer with some gold tones.
-Dove Grey Pearled Gown - Silvery soft grey with some blue undertones when applied. Less shimmery than the others, it's pigmented but softly glowing.

In this first look I used Opaline Moonstone on the lid and Castle Secrets in the crease, both over Pixie Epoxy. I built the crease colour up in only a couple of layers, it's nicely pigmented.

In this look I wanted something a little softer. I used Dove Grey Pearled Gown on the lid and a really blended out crease of Glimmer n Glow.

Would I buy again? Yes, definitely. The colours are just as pretty as they appear on the Etsy listings and I like how there is so much attention to the detailing of the labels and theme. I want a full sized Dove Grey Pearled Gown and there are a couple more colours I've seen that I'd like to get.
