This is possibly one of the best ever drugstore brand eye shadow palette that I have ever come across. We don't get much Wet n Wild over here (Tesco has a very tiny selection of very old stuff) so when this palette started getting splashed across the US blogs I knew I had to get hold of one. Yes, it's limited edition and I'm several months late to the party but does that really matter when the make up in question is so good?
Fortunately, Sparkelcrack Central took pity on my whining of "I want one, why can't I get one?" and very kindly sent one over. I enable her new found Sleek MakeUp addiction though, so it's all good.
There's an interesting mix of shades in here. I don't think I've seen drugstore brand eye shadow palettes (except Sleek MakeUp) with such a wide mix of shades. Not only is the mix of shades fairly interesting but there are duochromes and MAC dupes! I don't have the corresponding MAC shades but you can look at Nouveau Cheap's blog for some excellent photos and write ups. Seriously though, she's my go-to guide for US drugstore make up.
Swatches are done with a dry brush over Detrivore primer. All six shadows were very, very pigmented.
These are the left hand shadows.
-Shimmering silvery white
-Beige/brown/goldish shimmer, so smooth in texture
-Red based brown with green shimmer, again very smooth
These are the right hand shadows
-Bright, shimmering silver. Looks like foil if you apply over Pixie Epoxy
-Red shimmer, there's a bit of tiny red sparkle in this as well
-Black matte with silver sparkle
The red wasn't quite as pigmented as the other shades but it's a true red, quite unusual for a drugstore brand. I haven't been able to get the silver sparkle to apply with the matte black shadow, it blends out very easily.
Here's a look I did with this palette, applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion:
-Beige shimmer on lid
-Red-brown with green shimmer in crease
-Black matte with silver sparkle in crease edge
-White shimmer as highlight
I haven't been brave enough to pack the red on as a lid shade yet! I got about 6 hours over Urban Decay Primer Potion before I got any creasing. I got a little bit of fall-out but these shadows are so soft that I expected it.
I'm really impressed with how the quality of Wet n Wild have improved! I can't wait to get my hands on some of the newer palettes.
