Emerging Influential Blogs in 2008

This is my first time to participate in the nomination of the top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2008, and heard that this is the 2nd time the whole Pinoy blogosphere will select their own most influential blogs of 2008. you can also nominate and join here, it is the last day of nomination, maybe I'm the last one to nominate hahahaha. I was just reminded by Janette Toral this morning after caught her live video streaming during the video taping day for her book Blogging from Home.

Here are my entries, in random order.

1. Ed Arevalo's Music Picks - just met the guy in a Spot.ph Food tour and I'm really amazed that he focuses his blog for music, and I'm glad that he's now featuring local music and artist. and hey I won a Ne-yo CD and an autograph poster by commenting in his blog. The guy really into the mainstream music scene. That's for you Ed!, libre ka pag nanalo ka hahahaa

2. Micamyx's Missing Carlo - I can relate on her story in missing her brother and also stories that is very inspiring, the other blog that can preview the soft side of the blogger and having the joy of being a big sister

3. Da Who's Sino Sila - hhahaa, I like to add this blog here, its the Buzz and Startalk of the blogosphere, lots of hidden concept behind the blog, and I like it. Even that a certain blogger is seen online, still the physical form reflects what the blogger is all about. Yeah.. tsismoso ako minsan

4. Brian Gorrel's blog - yup, I know that everyone is familiar with the name and the blog, this blog makes everything different... Bloggers are becoming the star!! I'll just cut this story.

5. Fran's Franywanny - I like to add my bloggie friend's blog, its more than just a food blog and its very much detail when it comes to reviews and also blog adventures, glad that we met in person for the first time after several years of blog tagging and thanks for the blog events, and great to see that she's now active in this new blog.

6. You Got Tech - Watch or read lots of techie news for Pinoys, and its time for not being afraid of touching those expensive gadgets, but at least in this blog, they can try it for you for FREE.

7. Video48 - I just love this blog, and it really transformed me into 1980s, well thats were I seen these movies and it was very nostalgic for me. Re live the days of the great art in Filipino classic movies. For me they are a treasure and thanks to this blogger for sharing it to everyone. This blog make us to look back in the past.

8. Manila Foodistas - Been to the site few times and maybe I'll subscribe to their blogs, saw that they are very active in doing lots of review, features and also sharing their experience about the food they encounter and the resto they visited.

9. Comicology - I like this blog, and for a comics geek, fan, reader, lover and super hero wanna be like me.

10. Guitar Tutee - for me the only blog that features guitar chords, lyrics and even video tutorial, the blog is helpful to me because sometimes I go here just to play my guitar or tune my guitar or even see how the song played in a guitar, If ever I can put this on top 1, this blog is very influential. But hope next time the blogger can write some articles about the guitar music scene.

I like to post more, but some of the blogs I visited is way older than these blogs, and you need to nominate blogs that started from July 2007.

Daughtry - meet n greet / concert @ Eastwood City

I just arrived late for the autograph signing and even that I arrived late, I got in time for the meet and greet session with the band, I was with Elaine of Yehey and two winners of the meet and greet contest of Yehey.com, we went inside again in the room of Shanghai Bistro and waited for our turns to do the greet. It was a quick meet and greet, I got a chance to talk to them, shake hands, say hi and hello, exchange some great stories in a less than a minute, I just told them that I was at the press con the other night and they are great to be here in Manila.

I took again some video coverages and by using the Genius DV camera, I can easily shoot the whole scene in digital format and its easy to transfer the files to my computer for some editing, I haven't got a good photos of the concert, but I just got some great video scenes during the music event. I got a media pass as for taking photo coverage, and I placed myself in this media area in the middle of the venue and we took cover of the 1st 30 seconds of the 1st 3 songs of the band, which sometimes I felt bad, because 30 seconds is too short for me to take a good photo, since I'm using a low powered digital camera and I envy these professional photographer who got super powered lens. But anyway, i decided to leave the media area and use my ticket and go to my seat, because I'll enjoy there watching and take photos up in the left patron area.

it was big rock n roll fest for us, the venue inside the Eastwood City transformed the entertainment hall into something that we can't imagine. A 3,000 seater venue was created for that night and I was wondering that if they can organize more events similar to Daughtry and other artist, the venue transformed into a musical festival. Every restaurant play the songs of Daughtry, and all people really went to the place just to eat and listen to good music, also if you got tickets..you can also watch them perform live.

the rock concert of Daughtry lasted for 1 hour, and it was nice to hear that he played acoustic songs.. a new song for an album on the works. I just can't tell and don't know where to start, but I have photos and video coverage that I can share to you and let the digital material relay my experience to you.

Daughtry - press conference @ Shanghai Bistro, Eastwood City

Daughtry is here in Manila to hold a one night concert at the Eastwood City, the concert will start at 8:00pm tonight and many fans of the band and also Chris Daughtry fans and lovers will be at the Eastwood city center stage to watch their Asian tour.

I was with the Yehey.com team last night at the Shanghai bistro for the press con of the band, we were there at 6:30pm and we got inside the press room and waited till 9:30pm to have a chance to interview and cover the band and Chris Daughtry. It was a long wait for us, and the room was filled with press, media, tv cameramen, writers, reporters and the whole room got crowded every hour. I'm glad that they serve this great dinner meal courtesy of Shanghai Bistro.
I met some friends in the field, like Fudge Magazine, got a talk to them regarding their next issue and also thank them for featuring the Toy Con 2008 and some cosplay models, during that time I almost felt asleep during the long wait, and Ana Gan of Fudge shared her mp3 player with Weird Al Yankovic and we were laughing and I like his new songs, RnB and kinda broadway style of bastardizing others music, I enjoyed it and it made my day and got an energy to wake up.

I went in and out of the venue just to catch some air, also I look at Lace outside who is waiting for me, she didn't get in because she's not included in our team to cover the event. DJ Mo twister was there to talk to us and cheer up the media and press, he joked that everyone looks like came from the Bench Black Party because all of the people inside are wearing black shirts, then I said I'm wearing pink shirt hahahaha.

Then at the time 9:45pm the band arrives and lots of fans are outside the barricade screaming and the band waves to them. Then I went back to the room in order to have my set up, then before I sat down, my foot got stuck to some chair and then the organizers opened the big door divider and the band was waving at us and i was shocked because I was still stuck and standing ahhhaa, then everyone move at the front to get a great view, camermen went there so quickly and it nearly look that the band will be mobbed by the media hahaa, it was a fun interview portion with us, I seated myself in the front side of the band and took photos and video, as you can see it by my coverage materials. Then after some funny talks Josh Steely dance with Joey Barnes and it was funny, the band is in relax mode and they are comfortable, maybe they just rested for a lot of time after arriving from a long flight.

A friend reported to me via plurk.com that she saw the band last night at 7:00pm in Shangri La Plaza mall, maybe they just finished some dinner and did a little hang out or shopping hahaha.

So after the media interview portion, they left the area, but they stayed outside with their road manager, the interview is facilitated by the band's road manager and the event organizer, all medias were relocated back off the room, and then they re-organize the one on one interview with the band, it is an exclusive interview with the band for all media partners, and that includes Yehey.com, and me for covering the interview.

Me and Cheekie of Yehey will be there in the front to do the interview, Cheekie will ask questions and for my part will take video of the event, we coordinated properly with each other so that everything will be smooth, After the Tv interviews, it was our turn to come in front,. then it happened, it was a quick 1:43 minutes talks with the band, they enjoyed the talk with Cheekie as what I observed and Chris Daughtry did like Cheekie's jeans, hahaha I was laughing at the near end of the video as I saw Chris Daughtry's face and saying "hmmm I love pants!"

it was a big night and Chris talked to Cheekie and wishes that he likes to talk again to her tonight after the concert, but I don't if she will be there, but me...will have a meet and greet with the band after the concert, I'll be there covering the event also with permission and passes by the organizers ( i hope..) and Lace will be my lucky guest to come with me to watch and also meet the band...

As Elaine of Yehey said earlier if I was a fan of Daughtry, I just told her that I'm not a big fan, I just love guitar riffs and pop rock, but if they perform on stage and saw it live..I might turn into a big fan after wards hahahaha.. wow.. it will be a busy night later.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - trailer

This one just came in, and thanks to my super sis for sharing this awesome video trailer. The X-men Origins : Wolverine trailer is from the live release of it during the Comic Con San Diego 2008, and the best part of the event is that they feature for the first time in public the movie trailer of these cool comic icons we love, especially Wolverine.

Just viewed it two times and I see a lot of characters, there's Gambit, and rumored Maverick, Emma Frost, The Blob. And also you'll see on how Wolverine started and what is his big relationship with Creed aka Sabretooth, both of them as we know teamed up in an operation combat and after that they banded together in this project called Weapon X, you'll see some scenes of the Weapon X project when they embeded the adamatium metal to Wolverine's body, I know the movie will be nasty and full of killings, as we saw in comics, but I'm not sure if they will include some part of the story were they tell the whole beginning before Logan and Creed became...hmm...evolved.

Full battle gear today for Daughtry

I'm on full battle gear today, because I'll be covering the press conference of Chris Daughtry and his band tonight at Shanghai Bistro in Eastwood City. I'm fully armed again with digicams and several recording electrical devices to document everything that I can capture with my gadgets.

So here are the stuff I'm bringing.

1. Compaq Laptop
2. Olympus Digicam for still photos
3. Casio Exilim for video ( borrowed it from Lace)
4. memory cards - for extra
5. card readers - for fast transfers
6. extra batteries - 2 sets each
7. webcam and microphone - for a live streaming of the press con, if there's internet in the venue
8. Creative Zen mp3 recorder - for audio recording
9. Columbia wrist watch - to monitor the time
10. Nokia cellphone - for mobile contact ( borrowed this from Lace's sister)
11. Battery chargers - for rechargeable dry cells and digicams
12. headphones
13. my self... hahaha i consider myself as a gadget.

I'll be teaming up with Yehey.com for the press conference, so all of the stuff that I'll be doing is my contribution for everyone, so expect lots of photos and videos which I'll upload it once I get home tonight. And also I'm not sure if there is internet connection in the area, because if there is wifi zone in the place, I can stream the press con live on the web, so that everyone can view and see Chris Daughtry and his band.

Tomorrow night is the big gig for Daughtry, and I'll be there also to cover and watch it and also post a blog of that experience here in my blog and multiply, this is one of the first official gig that I got in covering big concerts. I'm already hyped for this, because I'm a big listener to his music and even that many people says that its too corny to listen to it, but its my expression of listening a different kind of music and feel its own style toward other artists. I'm not a big fan, but I'm one of those people who appreciate heavy guitar riffs and even a little pop in the rock.

Indie backpacks, music, art, tattoo and flowers

Front side backflip,.. sounds like that its from a word of the underground world, but that's a term they used in a trick for skateboarding, its a subculture that they have that makes them unique and made its identity for the sport, same goes to music were we have different kinds of mixes and tunes that has no boundaries or limits , tattoo art that never leaves the body but it transfers its symbolism to the inviduals who has it, doodles that makes on art into a big collage of ideas and spirit of freedom, and Jansport, the bag that we know celebrates its 40 years of its hippie heritage through its new line bag design they called "Graphic Remix", a line of Jansport bags that has been given an art touch by our local Indie artist like graffiti art, doodles, and pop art that display the underground's love for creativity, originality and individuality.

I was there yesterday in the party launch called Music, Tats, and Flowers - Jansport celebrates artistic individuality at Mag:net Cafe in Bonifacio High Street. The event was jam packed by different kinds of artists and musicians. (Read more below for more stories, photos and video)

I stumbled Nelz Yumul at the event at I found him at the Wewilldoodle area, where they to most of their doodle exhibition in a giant plywood, after that I saw some of the bloggers in the area lining up in the lunch buffet, so before I eat my meal, I decided to take some photos of the area and video the activities happening. I didn't know that it was a Jansport event, and because the text message invite I received last week says that Tattoo makes the body and your bag too, so at first I'm wondering already that it maybe a bag event, but I'm more interested on the arts and music scene, but when I saw the poster infront of the door and also the giant Jansport .. I was nearly crying already hahhaha, I used to have a Jansport bag back then, and I used to decorate my bag with these weird keychains and also pin buttons that I bought and given by some artist friends, now at the event I was blown away that bags can be an art canvas too.. its a one of great art piece that you can put your important things on it.

so after my meal, I just witness the massive DJ demo of DJ Supreme doing live mixes and scratches on his table and after the intro I was surprised to see the hip hop rapper group Pamilya Dimagiba, I just know these group since year 97 and I used to hang out on some skateboarders and one of them is from the group, hahaha it was nostalgic and great to see they perform again on stage. After that indie music performed by the band Bagetsafonik. It was my first time to hear and see them play after the year this band was introduced to me by a friend in the past during the INK exhibit in Shangri La. Also saw Mike Escudero's SAKRILEJ animation, and its a different version, I saw this animation 5 years ago in our film festival in Greenbelt and this time it was remixed and they used DJ Supreme's music mix in the new version of the animated short.

It was a big bang event of arts, music and flowers... I don't know why flowers, but it may represent something that blooms and give beauty - well, I think the flower is the bag!
Nice to see also that our Indie community in arts are getting in the mainstream field, although that they are not that visible in the masses, but I'm glad that they are very open in sharing their art styles to the open field. and the result is a big appreciation from the crowd that raises the roof.
