On the search for the prettiest purple..

A few people have been asking to see my MAC haul.. I really didn't buy much.. I only bought a few things. I bought two purple eye shadows called "Parfait Amour" and "Violet Trance". "Violet Trance" is from the latest "Maira Kalman" collection. I was debating whether to get the eye shadow or "Push the Edge" purple pigment. I ended up getting the shadow. "Parfait Amour" is a shadow I've been wanting for a long time. I want Beautiful Iris as well.. but I'll wait till my next MAC visit.

I also purchased a retractable brow liner crayon in the shade "Spiked". This was always my HG pencil until I started using eye shadow to color in my brows. I LOVE this pencil.. it goes on not too harsh and it makes coloring in my brows so easy. But I stopped repurchasing it because there isn't a lot of product. I would run out of this thing in like 3 weeks... and at $15 a pop, I had to find something else. My MAC "Espresso" eye shadow has lasted well over a year and I've been using it every day. I've hit the pan, but I still have plenty left for a long time.. and at $14.50 it's a better investment for me. I love the pencil though and It's so much easier so I cracked and bought one.

Early last week I got MAC Plum Trance Metal X cream shadow off of Specktra. I paid $10 for it.. and the thing was DRY and incredibly crumbly. I was so excited to receive it and I was incredibly upset about it. I can't use it... if I try, I get crumbles all over the place and then I've got purple all over my clothes, hands and floor. I tried reviving it with water and visine and neither worked. :( I'm just going to use it for a back to mac. What a waste of money.

Violet Trance was so hard to take a picture of, no matter what setting I put my camera on, it captured it blue. In person, it looks a lot more purple.

I'm liking Parfait Amour a lot, but I am disappointed with Violet Trance. It is not pigmented at all. The consistency is very chalky. It's not soft at all. If you have "Carbon".. the consistency is almost the same.. but the pigmentation of it is not even half as good. I had to pack it on with a base and put layer after layer and the color payoff just did not get any darker. I LOVE the color, its my ideal shade of purple.. but I'm still on the lookout. Does anyone have any suggestions for that BOLD, Pigmented, Grape purple??

I also threw in a MAC Top Hat swatch.. which I use for liner a lot when I want a splash of color. When I do a look with purple, I always use Urban Decay "Flash" eyeshadow which is one of my all time favorites.

Tunes of Cartoons night at Route 196

TUNES OF CARTOONS!
Our local rock bands will be playing cartoon theme songs and music on September 3 at Route 196. Reklamo and other bands will be there to rock the house down with cartoon songs such as Transformers, GI JOE, My Little Pony, Bravestar, Thundercats, Silverhawks, Jewel, and many more. Not just an 80s cartoons theme, we might expect some new cool groove music of modern cartoon show with a little twist of the rock band's arrangement.

Transform, roll out and Care Bears....Stare!!!!!!!!

A haul.

Once in a while, I'll drive for an hour and go to France, that beautiful country that has Sephora in every city! I actually have a friend who is quite addicted to makeup, too and she lives in a very large French city, so we meet there and go makeup shopping together.

Although I am famous for doing very large and expensive hauls every few months, I was quite reasonable this time. Here's what I got:

At Mac, I got:
Jest (duh! see previous post)
Nocturnelle
Hepcat
Rose Pigment - which is so pretty and very versatile as it looks good on eyes, lips and cheeks
London Life from the Euristocrats 2 collection
and I back to mac-ed for Cyber, a very dark purple - and yes I'm going to wear it!
I picked a retractable lip brush at Sephora, which is always useful with dark lipsticks.

At Bobby Brown, I got a gorgeous sapphire gel liner and a concealer (and boy, this concealer was worth the high price! More detailed review will follow.)

I also got a Benefit cream shadow in Gossip, which is a light purple color; I got it for the name as much as for the shade!

And finally I picked 2 OPI nailpolishes, one is Pampelona Purple and I need to recheck the name for the second one.

So I will be reviewing these products as I get to use them, and will let you know how I like them.

SM City Manila - Blogggers Wifi Party @ Food Court

SM City Manila Bloggers wifi party
[created this blog entry during the event]
We're having a wifi event here in SM City Manila with my fellow bloggers and food fans, the center of Manila is the perfect place to go during the holidays, and SM City Manila Food Court is the good place to celebrate our National Heroes Day.

The entire mall is now equipped with full wifi internet access to everyone, you can jack in your wifi enabled devices anytime, anywhere with in the mall premises. I'm an active visitor of SM City Manila during my college days and it is now rapidly changing and the Food court level just renovated last July 2008 and serving the customers with 10 food stalls namely...... (more)

1. Lydias Lechon
2. Sizzling Plate
3. Chicken Company
4. Wok Yan
5. Kamay Kainan
6. Pinoy Toppings
7.Seafood Grill
8. Bodhi
9. Ilonggo Grill
10. Tropical Hut

the wifi event in all SM Malls are now creating a lot of buzz and thanks to our blogger friends who are here to use the free wifi to blog and update our website and the word of mouth in having an awareness and promoting SM Manila and Food Court are easy to reach our friends in the cyberspace. Even if you have different kinds of laptop or mobile phones, can connect easily in the wifi area in SM Manila Food Court. Dining and getting your food even when you are on the go are easy and no hassle. You can surf the web while you eat your favorite meal or drink.

We received food stubs in order for us to enjoy more of the wifi party. Some of us got food stubs from the 10 tenants here in the food court. Mark Santos meal shared to us this big stuffed squid by Wok Yan. I told him that this is my favorite meal whenever I'm at the SM Food Court, and yes this giant squid can be found only in Wok Yan at all SM food court.Lace's meal is from Bodhi, a combination of meat veggies and curry veggies. A very healthy meal to all veggies people and for those who are in their diet. Bodhi serves all veggies food and be found in SM food court.

And my food - Pork Sizzling steak. its been ages that i haven't tried any Sizzling Plate meal, and this is my first time once again in 5 years to eat a Sizzling Plate meal and thanks to SM Manila for satisfying my taste buds, because I enjoyed a great sizzling meal and will dine on the next visit. There's something yummy on those gravy.

The food court level in SM Manila revamped into a classy and fast casual dining venue for mall goers. The white blend walls, chairs and flooring gives a relaxing ambiance and a friendly place to mall goers. A drinking station is located in the middle, a trash bin near by, and a large NON SMOKING SIGN is visible in the area. I'm very great that the venue is already clean and security guards are roaming the area. A good place to chillax and as well..being safe and secured.

Marvel Comics in your Sony PSP

artwork by Greg Horn

I'm not sure if I will be excited or not when I read here that Sony PSP and Marvel Comics in a mighty team up to produce and digitize comics for you Sony PSP. November is the target of the launch and make sure your Sony PSP is ready to download that special Ebook reader and a good firmware update will help it. I don't know how big and large the files for the ecomics, this might be the new and 1st comics innovation after putting comics in the web. But I remember that people in Japan use their Sony PSP in downloading and reading Mangas.

Hope that the animated comics will be available for free in Sony PSP.

Fringe - tastic Fashion from 1969

By 1969, high fashion was being influenced by "the street". Designers started paying attention to what young people were wearing and translated those looks into high fashion. Hippies were definitely influencing the runway, as you can see in these images from August of 1969. The looks are modeled here by late sixties "it" girl, Penelope Tree.

A black satin mini dress has long red fringe that hangs from the neckline, wrists, and sash belt. The dress is by Victoria Royal and sold for $90 in 1969 (abut $522 in today's dollar). Fringe wig by Ara Gallant.

A faux suede wrap dress by Ginori with fringe at the sleeves and hem is worn over a classic white shirt. The dress sold for $110 in 1969 (about $639 in today's dollar). Boots by Golo.

All fringe buckskin poncho and leggings by Patricia Bronstein for El Greco. The poncho sold for $65 in 1969 (about $378 in today's dollar). The necklace is by Conrado and Claude.

Bonnie Cashin designed this brown suede dress and leggings with fringe at the skirt and down the legs. The dress has Cashin's signature turnlock closures at the front. I've actually sold this exact dress about 5 years ago and wish I still had the original pictures to show you. It was completely lined in bright pink silk and the suede was incredibly soft to the touch.

Black satin with a deep neckline that laces up and an all fringe skirt by Joel Schumacher for Paraphernalia, a hip boutique in New York. The dress sold for $50 in 1969 (about $290 in today's dollar). Fringe wig by Ara Gallant.

Shame on me... and September challenge

I did some makeup shopping this week-end (more about that later). I stopped by a Mac counter and got a few eyeshadows, and among them was Jest, that I had benn wanting for quite a while, and that kept on popping in the product list for a lot of pretty looks seen recently. You get it: I needed it.

When I got back home and opened my pallettes to put my new babies in their new house, I found out I already had Jest. And that it was untouched.

This is the proof, if I needed it, that I have been in such a buying rut that I don't even have the time to try everything I get at least once, and that I don't know what I have or do not have anymore.

So I think it's time for a little challenge: in September, I'll pick one Mac 15 palette a week (I have 5 of them) and I'll use that palette every day. I can add something from another palette if needed (like neutrals if I need them, or highlighters) or a pigment BUT I will use colors from that palette every day of the week.

Starting tomorrow, then. And I must decide if it will be the Bronze/Gold or the Purple/Pink palettes I'll use first.

Anybody fancy joining me?

Project Mary Grace production note 3

Attached are the sketches for the characters for *********
Kung ano mapili yun nalang kukulayan ko.. Hehe.. Pa-suggest na rin po ng colors to use... :D

I started working on the designs and images to brand the event, and thanks for our friendly artist in helping me doing the concept art and design for the brand characters of the event. I immediately forwarded the designs to the officials and then after some days... it got a semi-approved comment

The modern designs are simpler and easier to identify with.
When can we see your proposal for the ********* events?

hmmm.. looks like I will approve it too and get a final touch and colored version for the designs. I got phone call yesterday and talked to one of the events person of the company and I apologizes for not reaching them the other day, because I got stuck in a rock concert and its hard to answer a phone call in front of the stage with a rock band performing live music. I finally gave words that my concept paper and proposal will be delivered today. And my first task is to retrieve my old files to look for that old contract and concept paper. I must upgrade the concept and see the errors from last year.

Power up!! September 2009 will be fun!

You do not have to be Whiz financial planning a large wedding on a budget. All it takes is some clever ideas, some thrifty shopping, and good attitude and you can easily save thousands of people. In fact, you can still get a great gown dress gown dressfor less than $ 1000 dollars.

How to easily get a wedding dress cheap ...

1. Shop in the off season. Shopping for a gown dress during the wedding season (late spring through summer), is like trying to buy a car from a seller who has seen you do get into a taxi - it will cost you a arm, leg, and probably a bunch kidney. If they know that you need, you will not save a penny.

What to do with the savings ...

In addition to being able to simply pocket the savings, you can use some money to make changes to this beautiful wedding dress and yet incredibly cheap that you just pick it up. Foundation Review #5: Avène Couvrance Liquide

A bit of information about Avène: it's actually a French thermal city whose water is helpful to cure skin diseases and problems. A very weird thing is that scientists have analyzed this water and its components and recreated it artificially - well the recreated water doesn't work as well!

In several European countries like France, Belgium, Netherlands, Avene is quite easy to find, mostly in pharmacies, and relatively inexpensive (under 20€, but differs from country to country). It's highly recommended by dermatologist and can be used to hide skin issues or scars. Outside of Europe, it can be bought on the web but is more expensive.

I absolutely adore that foundation, it's the one I turn to when my skin is acting up or when nothing else is working right for me. I wear shade 2 Natural most of the time but if I (fake) tan, I'll use shade 3 Sable. If I use it 7/7, a tube will last me about 4 months.

PROS:
Oil Free
SPF 15
Extremely easy to apply
Very light feeling but buildable coverage - up to medium in the liquid version (they have a cream version too)
Virtually no risk of allergy
Contains thermal water
Long lasting
Slightly dewy finish
Works on any skintype, which is great when you have combination skin
Great tube packaging: easy to use and hygienic
Not too expensive in Europe

CONS:
Only 5 shades in the range, which might make it hard to find your match

I highly recommend you try this if you can and if one of the colors work for you! It will be cheaper than a lot of high-end products and your skin will love it.

Wait a minute...

I did quite a nice haul yesterday, and I'll be posting it tomorrow. Sorry for the slow updates the last few days, been too busy to write!

Duster x 6cyclemind @ SM City Bacoor

duster 6cyclemind
Its a double treat gig this Sunday afternoon as we watched 2 great bands performing in one venue. SM Bacoor and Sony Music brings Duster to play and introduce to us their album "Sweetheart Snackbar", and performed some of their songs from the album like Gucci gang and Housebroken. Everyone is shouting "parang hipon and adekkk! during their performance. Also I got stunned when Katwo (vocalist of Duster) saw me in the audience area and greeted me, saying hi and hello then told her I'm there doing some blogging stuff hehhehe.

Great music comes in the way during Duster and then the main show of the event is 6cyclemind promoting their album and also having a mall album tour. The new album Project 6cyclemind is composed of 12 tracks with original songs and cover songs like Eraserhead's "Alapaap". I love the act when they performed cover songs and band versions of Lady Gaga's Poker face and the king of Pop's Billie Jean. The album is sold for only P285. wow! CD is now going lower..thats good.
