Eugenia is a serious couturier with a powerful vision for designs that are dreamlike and elegant. With infinite passion and creativity, Eugenia designs with the bride in mind, taking inspiration from a wide range of sources such as the subtle changes of the seasons, the glamorous starlets from the 30's and 40's, the world-renowned masters of Haute Couture, the lost art of classic tailoring, and very often, the brides themselves.

Before coming to the United States to pursue bridal design, Eugenia began her career, more than 29 years ago, working with Haute Couture designers in her native Greece. After years of creating unique custom gowns for her American clients and due to the unprecedented demand for her work, Eugenia decided to create her own line of bridal gowns.

Eugenia gowns are often described as "exciting and different", "unique and elegant", "dramatic and romantic", "chic and sophisticated", "pieces of art". It is this last remark that most interests Eugenia. Utilizing exquisite details, delicate hand-crafted precision, and the finest silks, Eugenia strives to make each and every gown a masterful work of art.

Summer Handbag Shopping!!

I'm on the hunt for a new Summer handbag. The main color I'm looking for is white, ivory or cream with gold hardware. I wear mostly gold jewelry and lots of brown/tan clothing.. so a bag with gold would probably be the best suitable for me. Here are some bags I saw on the Macy's and Bloomingdale's website that I liked..

I've had my eyes out for the past few months at TJ Maxx and Marshalls and haven't see anything. Loehmann's and Nordstrom Rack usually have pretty cool handbags.. Tomorrow I'll probably stop at a million places trying to find the perfect bag.

I've been wanting this Louis Vuitton for such a long time.. But it's a couple hundred more $$$ than what I'd like to spend.. I know Louis' are good investments because they last for years.. But I'm not sure..

Decisions, decisions!!

Do you have your summer/spring bag yet? Where is your favorite place to shop for bags?

Review: Sonia Kashuk Blending Sponge!

Since I don't own the original Beauty Blender I won't be able to compare them, but I've read lots of reviews and have seen a lot of youtube recommendations for the Sonia Kashuk Blending Sponge as a good dupe for the Beauty Blender. So, a few days ago I purchased it from Target for $9.99. The Beauty Blender is $19.99. The next morning, I looked up a tutorial on youtube to see the proper use for it. I watched a vid by "MakeupByTiffanyD" which was extremely helpful.

You are suppose to run the sponge under water, then squeeze the excess water out and then squeeze dry it in a towel. Then the way you are suppose to apply this is in a stippling motion, just like you would with a skunk brush (duo fibre brush ex: MAC 187). So, I put a dollop of foundation in my palm and did just that. I lightly dabbed the sponge and stippled it on my face. I noticed that I had to go back and put more foundation in my palm a couple times, which i never have to do. Meaning, it was eating up my foundation. It did put my makeup on evenly, but it did not cover well. It put my makeup very thinly on my face and I could still see redness through my makeup, which would never happen when applying with my foundation brush. Another thing was this thing wreaked of fresh rubber. The smell actually gave me a headache and made my hands smell like rubber. I've washed it quite a few times but the smell is still a little bit present. What I did like was that the sponge comes to a cone shape at the top, so it is very easy to get to areas around your eyes and around your nose, which is difficult with a brush. Also I liked that you are really in control of how much is going on your face. Sometimes when I use my brush, too much foundation will sit in some of my fine lines.. like my laugh lines on the sides of my lips, but with the blending sponge it applies the makeup on so thin that it doesn't happen.

I think this could possibly work very well with a creme foundation such as MAC Full Coverage Foundation, RCMA, Cinema Secrets or Ben Nye Foundations.. But it didn't work well with my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation or MAC Studio Fix Fluid. I will not be using this to apply a full face of foundation, I will only be using it for touch ups.. which it works very well for that.

A lot of people love this, so don't let my opinion change your mind. It has worked great for many people. Just not for me. :(

The Correct Foundation Garments to Wear Under Your Vintage Dresses #2

Dear readers - I am feeling rather blah with a nasty head cold. This week, I will be republishing one of my most popular series regarding the correct foundation garments to wear with vintage dresses. This series still gets hits on a weekly basis, so I thought it would be useful to publish it again.

Continuing the series on the correct foundation garments, today we have two party dresses from 1958. The focus on today's spread is the tiny waist needed with fuller skirts. "Take a look at the luscious, jewel-toned dresses. See how their sculptured bodices and dome-shaped skirts show off your middle? They call, obviously, for a trim mid-section of your own."

The green satin dress on the left is a "princess sculptured" dress with self-fabric roses at the neckline and hem by Parklane, which was offered at Franklin Simon, New York and Jordan Marsh, Boston. The dress sold for about $30 in 1958 ($225 today).

Under the green dress, the model is wearing a Formaid of Boston torso bra that molds from bosom to hips. With that, she wears a Saramac petticoat. Note that the petticoat has a flat panel from waist to hips and the long-line bra is worn over it.

The blue jacquard dress on the right has a "closely carved bodice and dome skirt that opens in a back pleat". This dress is by Carol Rodgers and sold for about $13 in 1958 ($97 today). The skirt of this dress likely has the stiff Pellon interfacing, as the model is not wearing a crinoline under it.

Under the blue dress, the model is wearing a Sarong Two nylon girdle that trims the waist with a high elastic waistband. Crisscross front with open bottom gives walking ease. Power net sides and satin elastic back. She is also wearing a Perma-lift strapless cotton contour bra.

Almost Rose vs. Green & Yellow

Absolutely Fabulous needs help! Which Header you like the most?"Almost Rose" or "Green & Yellow"?

Inspiration Board: Orange Citrus

Creating this board made me realize just how many shades of orange there are and how difficult of a color it is. You see, in searching for it online when you type "orange" you have both the words "orange" as in the color orange and "orange" as in the citrus, which, conveniently is also orange. Phew.

Anyway, I realized how versatile a color orange really can be. Mix it with dark colors like browns and burgundies and you have a rich warm Fall palette. Mix it with bright hues like hot pink or kelly green and you have a very poppy bright Summer palette. Or, do as I did here and mix it with soft whites and creams to create a subdued look and orange will stand all on it's own.

What do you think?

Top 10 best comics shop in the Philippines

I just searched on the net and there's no listing or complete directory of local comic book shop or stores that sells comics here in the Philippines. I'm now on a writing project listing the top comic book shop that is known to everyone. I'm still searching for others, as I know that there are shops outside Manila and Luzon, and even I just encountered this comics shop in Baguio 10 years ago.

So start off the listing in no particular order. I might update this once I got to discover new shops. The description of each store is based on my experience only.

1. Comics Quest
Been buying comics from them since when I'm in my senior high school up to college. I started to collect my comics and learned that they can reserved you a copy, (depends if the store attendant knows you). I usually bought my comics in SM CityNorth Edsa, and completed my first mini series - Kingdom Come, which makes me come back to collect and read comics after my elementary years (thanks to that P500 I found in school campus).

They offer comics reservation today on some titles that are hot and in demand, it now requires a down payment. I haven't tried the service yet but I know it is convenient to comic book readers and collectors if they want to get a hold of those copies in one hit or in one set or have no trouble of thinking to be sold out. They also sells tradepaper backs, back issues of comics, sci fi books, magazines, action figures, t-shirts and guide to draw comics and manga books. They also have a blog website and a mailing list were they send a list of comics coming in every week.

their branches are at
SM Megamall
SM City North Edsa
Festival Mall

Phone: 634-1291

2. Filbar's
Filbar's is the oldest store that sells comics, and now the store evolves and turns into a magazine store, but they still carry the comics line in some of the branches. There are lots of branches of Filbar's in all over metro, but the descent branch can be found in SM Megamall. I buy my comics here if ever that I ran out of stocks in Comic Quest, it serve as my 2nd savior in comics collecting (during the 90s). They still have stocks of back issues and a regular sales of comics every week.

The store is known to be having a 10-20% off comics sales in some seasons, and its a big help for some collectors for hunting back issues and even new issues.

their branches at
SM City North Edsa
Glorietta
SM Megamall
SM City Fairview
Robinsons Galeria
SM Mall of Asia
Greenbelt 1

Main office:
53 Ermin Garcia St Brgy Pinagkaisahan Cubao Quezon City Philippines
Phone: 632 584 9229

3. Comic Odyssey
The booming comic shop here in the Philippines and makes comic collecting and the hobby more fun than ever. I've been buying comics here in the early 2000 and one of their earliest branch was in Robinsons Manila and in Market Place, Kalentong (now closed). The shop just expanded in the year of 2007 after the owner Sandy Sansolis went back to our mother land and focus in delivering good service and business for the comics market. It's such a big transformation for Comic Odyssey after launching their main branch in Robinsons Galeria, they now hold a series of comic book launching, signings, and artists meet and greet for local and international comic book artist. They had united the local comic book artists and fans in one venue and this is done when theres a Free comic book day event or comic book launches.

Its a big ground if you want to start your comic collecting, they sell a wide range of titles and trade paper backs, vintage comics, collectible variants, toys, action figures, statues, CCG and many more. You can also reserve your comics daily/weekly/monthly (if the attendant knows you well) they reserve your comics and keep it in a special box for you, just make sure you pick it up on the right time and don't let your box be full of unclaimed reserved comics. You can also pre-order some titles and even order hard to find items that can be bought in the US. You can also order comics online via their website and comics be delivered to your door steps.

Sandy, the owner of the store usually stays in the shop every Saturday entertaining costumers and comics book fans, he is also a comic collector and fans so there's no problem in talking to him and ask an inquiry. The store knows their product well and its fun to see the owner runs the store well for everyone. Good service at its best.

Their branches
Robinsons Galeria (main )
Robinsons Place Manila
Eastwood City Cybermall

Phone : 632) 914-0040

4. Planet X Comics
A sister store of Comic Odyssey and now has two branches in Manila. The first store opens in TriNoma mall and the 2nd is at Glorietta 3 mall. The set up and style is same with Comic Odyssey, the store is owned by Eric Baga, who I know was the former manager of Comic Odyssey in Manila. Quality of service is the same with Comic Odyssey, and I'm glad that they opened in Glorietta ( which I usually hang out if ever I'm in Makati)

their branches at:
TriNoma Mall
Glorietta 3, Makati

Phone : (632)915-2744

5. Druid's Keep
This store is a living legend to comic collectors, because it was a talked of the town after it was discovered and shared to us during its first run. And because of the location is in the far reach of Magallanes, I managed to ask a fellow comic fan friend to take me there, and it was a cool spot and venue for comics and movie fans. Statues and figures were everywhere, and comic books are placed in this nice rack and artworks of pinoy artists are displayed. Felix Cua, owner of the store is also a comic collector and fan, he runs and manage the store himself and its great to see another store owner entertains customers and fans everyday. The store give services of reserving your comics, do pre-orders and even order items that is not on their list. Many hardcore comic fans stays here and even comic artists hang out with them. It's like a hidden homebase of comics fantasy and awesomeness.

Heard that the store is known to be selling the lowest price of comics, I can't confirm it yet today if they still have the lower price compare to other shops in Manila.

their branch at:
3rd floor, Gateway Mall Complex, Magallanes
phone : 854 53 32

6. Fourth Wall Comics
Another living legend of comics stores, I call them that because its a talk of the town or sometimes an urban legend, because I hear stories from other comics fans that there's this store in Filmore St. and during the early year of its run, nobody can confirm it properly, well maybe that because its a gold mine for comics fans in getting a hold of their comics items for themselves ehhehehe ( yeah I'm like that sometimes, not sharing infos to others just to have a 2nd venue where to get my comics if ever it ran out of copies to other branches)

Mark Cerbo
did a visit of the store, and I'm still waiting for the guy to post the photos he took during his Free comic book day visit. Eric, the owner is also a comic fan and manages it everyday, not so sure if it is open in a regular basis. But as Mark said theres a wide collection of comic items and toys being sold.

5082 Filmore St., Palanan Makati City
Phone: 0922-827-2237

7. Sputnik comics
One of the unique store that opens in the heart of Cubao, owned and operated by writer Ramon deVeyra. He shared to me that he opened the store with his two friends as a big graphic novel collector and comics fans. The store specializes in selling graphic novels, independent titles done by local or international artists, designer and urban toys. Because of its store design with a melting white interiors and an alien top of it, make s Sputnik more unique and a cool place to stay for comics fans. The store is alive whenever theres a party or big event within Cubao Expo.

I have featured the store here during its launching, you can read my report and also a video interview with Ramon - Sputnik Comics Shop opens in Cubao X

update 1: "It's now owned by his former Sputnik partner Lyle Sacris, and two other people."

Shop 60, Cubao Expo, General Romulo Ave. Cubao Quezon City
website : http://sputnikcomics.multiply.com/

8. Comics n Stuff
I'm going to visit this comic shop located in ground floor of Market Market in Global City, Taguig.
And according to my reader, he said the store is a sister company of Comic Odyssey.

9. Bookstores
We can add our giant bookstores like Fullybooked, Powerbooks, Bibliarch, National Bookstore, Booksale and many more. They sell lots of bulk of trade paper backs, graphic novels and mangas. Fullybooked got the large selection of TPBs and graphic novels, while Powerbooks has a set of TPB of common titles like from DC and Marvel, in Booksale you can grab a discounted price of some regular back issues and saw that they stock some silver age titles in their Megamall branch.

10. Merchants
They are collectors and comic fans who sells comics in events and convention, they bring their large boxes and sell their comic collections and extra copies. For comic fans, they are the last resort to grab sold out comics and compilation of regular issues. You can buy here a regular complete set of Civil War or Infinite Crisis. Although prices are very special, but the safe keeping and love for collecting the comics for you is the best.

This top 10 list is not yet complete, Its kinda my writing project for this blog, and will update this more if ever I get more informations on it. I like to add Book Sale, Fully Booked, and Powerbooks in the list, but they are much more different from my list and they are magazine and book stores.

If you know a cool comic shop in your area, feel free to share an information via email at azrael at gmail dot com, or post a comment here.

feel free to email me or message me if there's any correction of information posted here in my blog. Hope this blog post can help everyone in search for the best comic book shop in the Philippines

will update this post with photos and videos soon

Unique Bridal Shops in Michigan
By Deborah Kolich

With today's economy, flanges have to be savvier than ever when it comes to budgeting for their wedding. And unfortunately, the financial position of certain enterprises, has left many wives with little choice when they go in search of their wedding dresses. Bridal shops are expensive to maintain and, more recently, many were forced to close their shops because of overhead. But when you combine the online experience to a physical location, as Imlay City, Michigan Brides may have the best of both worlds.

The Internet has opened doors to many wives and to be now Bridal Shops in Michigan may also include many online shops. Any wedding dress store that wants to survive today is to offer both options to the search for the perfect woman wedding dress ... a physical and an online presence. This combination allows the wife to try dresses, but opens the door to more than styles that can also be online. This also contributes to the store owner because they can have a larger inventory, overhead, but less in the store itself.

bridal shopsThis type of wedding boutique can offer more if they have Custom Wedding Dress services. In other words, normally the wife must be what is called a standard size, which comes with a size of table. While the guarantees that the dress will certainly be changed in addition to the fees involved. But when a wedding dress shop offers custom dress option, the wife can get the gain is exactly its measures. Eliminating the costs of changes entirely. The only additional cost being incurred for May would be rated animated.

When the wedding shops in Michigan, as Leontina Gowns located in the thumb of the lower peninsula, combines a store front, with online wedding shopping, savings went right to the bride. Often, it can get a quality designer wedding dress tailor its measures for less than $ 500. Brides can shop in the store or online and get a wedding dress made to measure its accuracy. This does not only save time, but hundreds of other changes in the costs. This is one of the biggest advantages to buying online.

Bare Minerals Tinted Illuminating Mineral Veil Review

Bare Minerals Tinted Illuminating Mineral Veil Review. For those of you who read my blog frequently you know that I love and adore could not live without my tinted mineral veil. Its my biggest beauty product. Last month I believe Bare Minerals was on qvc celebrating its anniversary and I picked up the Tinted Illuminating Mineral Veil. If you're not sure what mineral veil does it gets rid of the oily parts on my skin and its great all year round and perfect for summer days. If your skin is oily often you should really try mineral veil.

What Bare Minerals Says It Does:
Tinted Feather Light Mineral Veil is completely sheer and versatile enough for all skin tones. It provides a soft glow with a hint of warm tint and keeps skin looking photo-fabulous all day long. Light-refracting pearls float over your complexion with weightless transparency for a radiant, delicately ethereal softness. It's a complexion perfectionist. 100% pure bareMinerals offers the ultimate, translucent finishing touch with a hint of warm tint to your makeup. Feather-light, completely sheer, and versatile, it morphs into skin, infusing it with softness and light for a dewy, soft-focus finish. It absorbs excess oil, minimizes the appearance of pores, and keeps skin soft and fresh. So sheer, it works for all skin tones.

What I Say It Does:
Overall this is a very nice product to have if you want a soft glow for special events like prom, a wedding, a date or some type of party. I would not recommend it for every day use because it creates such a soft glow that It only makes sense to wear it for special occasions. Like the original it gets rid of oily spots (without making your skin look dry) and it gives a nice tint to my skin but it also creates a heavenly glow. I will stick to the regular tinted mineral veil for everyday use and use the illuminating one for special days. It work for all skin tones and creates a dewy look while getting rid of oil. As far as minimizing pores I did not personally experience that but its still a great product for getting rid of oil. If you love the results you can pickup one from qvc.

The Sartorialist im Interview

"I really don't like to get to know people too closely!" Villains, Heroes, Fans, Toys Galore published in China Business Philippines

I just stumbled this article in a bing.com search and its a lost article from last year, this was published in "China Business Philippines magazine" last year. Thanks to Chester G. Galias for the interview last Toy Con 2007. and according to the article, yes we are pretty beat up that year and I'm beat up too and so tired, and got time to do this interview.

I'm posting everything, just to save the article for future use

Villains, Heroes, Fans, Toys Galore
You wouldn’t expect the toys you used to throw around when you were five to cost thousands of pesos today. And because you were a brat and didn’t take care of them like you were told, you can do nothing now but watch as others make serious money selling classic Legos, Transformers, and G.I. Joe action figures.

The toy business in the Philippines is a growing enterprise as proven at this year’s Philippine Toys, Hobbies, and Collectibles Convention. From around 40 in 2003, there were some 90 booths at the recent ToyCon. Visitors (ages 3 to 70, according to organizer Azrael Coladilla) admired and purchased collector’s items on display.

Each ToyCon is anchored on a particular theme, usually an upcoming big-budget US summer flick. In 2007, it was Transformers; this year, The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins (2005). A steady stream of visitors had their pictures snapped next to a life-size replica of Batman and The Joker’s bust. Other popular photo-op dummies were Superman, Godzilla, and The Joker’s assistant, Harley Quinn. A very realistic replica of the head and shoulder armor of Iron Man was also on display.

Dressed to Kill
The convention floor space was filled with nearly a hundred vendors plying thousands of authentic movie memorabilia, comic books, robots, trading cards, CDs, hats, dolls, pins, action figures, and other hard-to-find items.

But costume play was still the main attraction. Costume play (“cosplay” among aficionados) is a contest where fans get to dress up and act like their favorite characters in animé, video games, comic books, and movies.

Darth Vader, Yoda, Spiderman, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Super Mario, Chun-Li, Naruto, and Lord Sauron from The Lord of the Rings novel were just some the over 100 creatures walking around the venue for photo-ops and, of course, for the best cosplayer award.

Not to be Outdone
The 7th ToyCon may have been overflowing with merchandise from animation and comic book powerhouses US and Japan, but the Philippines and China also had some strong representatives at the venue. (Even “Manny Pacquiao” was there!)

Some young Filipino comic book artists doing subcontracted work for foreign clients were on hand to give practical tips on how to succeed in the comic book industry. Also featured was a video of Filipino American artist Whilce Portacio, where the former Marvel Comics artist encouraged budding artists.

The classic works of homebound master illustrators Alfredo P. Alcala (Voltar and Alcala Komix Magazine) and Mars Ravelo (Darna, Dyesebel, and Captain Barbell) were also exhibited.

The Philippines was also represented by the “Foldabots,” a Transformers-inspired line of paper art robots crafted by architect Jose Miguel “Jomike” Tejido. Its first commercial run was in 2006 for K-Zone Magazine, from where kids could simply cut out Foldabots from its pages. The robots have Filipino names like Buhawi (whirlwind), Tutubi (dragonfly), and Kalasag (shield). Most of the Foldabots turn into either local vehicles or endemic species. New versions come out every month, some of them even designed to form one bigger robot.

As for China, TOSE China and mobiusgames launched GONG!, a multiplayer online soccer game that has totally different, wacky rules and unconventional playing fields.

TOSE China was established in Shanghai in November 1993. The firm is a fully-owned subsidiary of Japan’s TOSE Co. Ltd, said to be the world’s largest non-publishing game developer.

TOSE’s second studio in China was founded in Hangzhou in 2001. So far, TOSE China has produced 400 titles for the world’s top gaming companies and mobile content publishers. The company is also involved in creating games for consoles, handheld game devices, and 2G and 3G mobile phones.

Organizers are pretty upbeat that next year’s ToyCon will again be bigger. They could be right. After all, there’s an inner child in all of us, as proven by the multi-billion-dollar toy industry.

The Correct Foundation Garments to Wear Under Your Vintage Dresses #1

Dear readers - I am feeling rather blah with a nasty head cold. This week, I will be republishing one of my most popular series regarding the correct foundation garments to wear with vintage dresses. This series still gets hits on a weekly basis, so I thought it would be useful to publish it again.

If you've ever purchased a vintage dress and wondered why it doesn't fit correctly, maybe you're not wearing the proper foundation garments. Prior to the late 1960's, clothing was styled and cut with the understanding that women would be wearing girdles and shapers underneath. In the October 1958 Seventeen magazine, there is a wonderful editorial spread photographed by Francesco Scavullo that illustrates what type of foundation garments work best with several dress styles. I'll be featuring the photos and information from this spread this week.

The magazine is referring to these as "shaft dresses" (never heard that term before). "Newest shape for a shaft to take - the high-rise Empire waist, which looks prettiest over a softly rounded bosom, asks just supple control from there down."

The red dress is by Lanz in a lined rayon crepe. See that band across the bust? The magazine calls this a "bosom yoke" and it drops to a V-neck with a bow in the back. The dress sold for $40 in 1958 (about $298 today). The model is wearing red DeLiso Debs shoes.

Under the red dress, the model is wearing a Formfit nylon bra with circle-stitched lace cups and a Formfit nylon elastic net panty girdle with a wide waistband and satin elastic vertical stretch panels front and back.

The model on the right in the top photo is wearing a blue wool jersey "shaft dress" by Jerry Greenwald. The front is gathered into a satin band at the Empire waist. In back, the dress is slit from V neckline to hem, revealing a satin underslip. This dress also sold for about $40 and was available at Saks Fifth Avenue. That's a long, skinny brooch by Castlecliff pinned to the center of the satin band and the shoes are by Capezio.

Under the blue dress, the model is wearing a Lovable "lightweight all-in-one for a long, slim line with easy control." Made of Helance nylon yarn with embroidered cotton broadcloth cups. This appears to be an open-bottom style.

Inspiration Board: Lemon

Something very fun and exciting for you all; this week we've declared it FRUIT WEEK! We will post an inspiration board everyday based around a different type of fruit. So, to start us off, we have lemon with a lovely yellow and white collection of images.

Don't you love the fun, light, and summery yellow palette? So bright and cheery!

Thanks for another beautiful board, Ashley!

R.I.P., TV
