Wedding Guests | Personal Wedding Vows

The wedding vows are one of the best parts of a marriage ceremony. The bride and groom have the chance to express their love and commitment to the other person out loud. Many couple’s are really starting to write their own wedding vows, and it increase every year. If you really want to write your own vows, this article will help you out. Writing your own vow doesn’t have to as extremely hard as everyone thinks it is.
First, congrats for choosing to write your vows and making them personal. Your special someone will most definitely appreciate this. Many couples get afraid about finding their own words to express their love for each other. Do not let this stop you. There is nothing more romantic than hearing a loved ones feelings about the other. Who else is better to create your vows filled with your love than you?
As long as you are comfortable doing so, there isn’t a reason why you shouldn’t write your very own wedding vows. An important thing to remember is make sure that both you and your fiancé are comfortable with it. It won’t have the same effect if one of you doesn’t want to write their own vows. You have to be willing to write your feelings down and say them in front of everyone you know. It can seem daunting, but when the moment comes all you will see is the person before you.
If you are planning on getting married inside of a church, make sure that the church allows you to say your own wedding vows. Some churches don’t allow this to happen, so check before you start.
Next, both of you need to choose whether to work on the wedding vows together or individually. There are good and bad reasons to do both, but it is all up to what works for you. Some bride’s and groom’s decide to keep it a surprise; while others like to know what their fiancé thinks. It doesn’t matter which one you choose as long as you both are happy with the decision.
Most wedding vows are broken into three main parts, which can make them a little easier to write. These parts include the declaration, description, and then the vows themselves
Most people find that the declaration is the easiest to write. The declaration is just declaring your love for the other person to your guests and that you do intend to say “I do”. This part can be as fancy or simple depending on what you want to say.
The description is and should be easy. All you are doing is describing why you love the other person. If you are having a really hard time writing this part, you should definitely question getting married. You can place a little poem or a few lyrics from a song that makes you think of the other.
The wedding vows themselves are difficult for most people. They also happen to be the most important part of the whole thing. All a vow is, is a promise of your commitment to your significant other. In the vows you will tell them your promise to be faithful and/or protect them for the rest of the days of your life. Your wedding vows bind your relationship and shows your commitment to get married.

NARS Earth Angel

I have 3 weaknesses when it comes to eyeshadow, three colors that almost always make me pause and look twice. Olives, Plums and Taupes. Since this NARS Earth Angel duo has two of the three- it's been beckoning towards me for quite some time now.
I have to get something off my chest first. I hate the name. Earth Angel? Ugh, this makes me think of some long haired hippie with a braided flower necklace laying on the ground making snow angels. I'm only half kidding, I'm marrying a damn hippie, but that doesn't keep me from wanting to throw his Birkenstocks and acoustic guitar at him and telling him that no, he can't light any more stinky incense.
Back to shadow. One side is described as a "bronzed taupe" while the other is an "olive". I see a light taupe with hints of plum and an mossy olive.

I'm gonna come out and say it, I'm halfway disappointed. Why just halfway? The taupe is delicious, as all taupes ought to be. Smooth, highly pigmented and different enough from the rest of my taupes to deserve love and attention.  It's the olive side that makes me stop dead in my tracks. It looks gorgeous swiped with a finger, but one of those shades were the shimmer disappears when you try to blend it and ends up looking dark and dirty. So yes, while the swatches look lovely, it's horrible to work with. The only real way I've managed to use the green shade is as a single wash of color over UDPP (paired up with olive liner, it's stunning!).
L'oreal HiP Cream Shadow Paint in
Secretive, Left side of Earth Angel,
WnW Creme liner, Opera Mascara
I don't understand, doesn't NARS hire anyone to actually -test- the makeup? It'd take just one application to demonstrate that while rich in the pan, the blending of the green isn't up to scratch.
At $32, I felt like it was quite a bit of money for me to spend on myself for an eyeshadow duo, but luckily Mr. MakeupWithdrawal insisted as part of my birthday treat.
So, anyone else own any NARS shadows? What are your favorites?

May Favorites

Time flies, ladies, we're in June already (although looking at the weather you wouldn't know it, but that's another story).
So here's the stuff I've been using a lot this month!

Biotherm Light! foundation whenever the sun has been showing up and I have been playing up the dewy look.

Coral lips of which I apparently can't get tired. Nars Niagara is one of my favorite but I have also been wearing Mac Fresh Salmon (LE/Spring Color) on top of Mac Viva Glam Cindy. They're both gorgeous colors when used on their own, but they definitely work well together too!

Mac Lustre Drops in Pink Rebel and Sun Rush (LE/To the beach) that I have been mixing with my foundations to get a glowy sunkissed look.

Champagne eyeshadow and winged eyeliner that go perfectly with the bright lips. My current favorite champagne are mac Retrospek and mac Sugarshot (LE/Sugarsweet). Yes, it's a Lustre, as you can see on the picture, but I don't mind, I actually love a lot of Lustre eyeshadows.

And finally, Nars Sheer Glow (in Fidji, at the moment). Although some days I prefer something more sheer and more glowy, this stays my absolute favorite as it gives me the most perfect skin ever, and it still deserves its holy grail status!

What are your favorites o the month? Share or link them!

Haul: Shiro Cosmetics

Reading Fresco Phyrra's blog has proved to be expensive in the past, and the last couple of weeks have proved to be no exception! I've ordered from 2 companies I haven't before after seeing swatches on her blog! The other company is Aromaleigh, for those interested.

Recently she showed a haul from a company called Shiro Cosmetics. I thought the colours looked interesting and they were all named after Pokemon, which made it 10000x more awesome. I ordered the "Super Effective" sample set, which was the (at the time) full set of 15 samples for $12.00. Since then, a couple of new colours have appeared on her Etsy site. Full sized jars are $5.00.

I was very impressed at the shipping time, I got an email the next day to say my order has been posted. Since we seem to be clear from volcanic ash for the moment (more on that in another haul, if it ever gets here. Grrr. Two orders went missing, one's been tracked down, I don't want to talk about the other), this got here less than a week after I placed my order.

How adorably wrapped is that? While I don't mind a lack of fancy packaging, it does help to feel appreciated when your order is all pretty like that. I "oohed" and "aahed" for a little while before getting stuck in to see what I'd ordered.

Each colour comes with a label with its own ingredients listed. Very impressive as one or two shades include cosmetic glitter or dyes. Each shade also has a note to say if it's lip safe or not. The samples come in little baggies and you get 1/4tsp. Plenty to have a good go with.

I'll get into the ingredients another time, this is just my haul post really! All are swatched with a damp cotton bud, descriptions are from Shiro Cosmetics.

-Team Rocket - Red toned purple shimmer.
-Zubat - Dusky, semi-sheer blue with a violet tinge.
-Lance the Dragon Tamer - Deep shimmering indigo with golden sparks of eye safe glitter.
-Mewtwo - Sheer, shimmery, medium purple with blue tones.
-Articuno - Pale, powdery silver-blue.

-Pikachu - Vivid, shimmering yellow with eye safe red sparks.
-Charmander - Soft, yet bright, shimmery orange, with yellow undertones and a hint of gold.
-Squirtle - Bright, clear, shimmery pool blue.
-Bulbasaur - Bright, shimmering grass green with a hint of golden undertone.
-Acid - Shimmery yellow-green with golden undertones and a touch of darker green eye safe glitter.

-Mew - Cheerful, bright strawberry-bubblegum pink with a slight peachy tone.
-S. S. Anne - Shimmery, subtle yet rich golden brown with a peachy golden tinge.
-Brock the Rock - Shimmery chocolate brown with red tones.
-Vulpix - Gorgeous, shimmery coppery red-brown.
-Hyper Beam - Sparkly opaque black with silver eye-safe glitter.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the colours but I haven't had chance to wear any yet! I'll try and do a FOTD soon with them.

Wedding Guests | Wedding Dress Styles in 2010

If you ladies are planning to get married in 2010, then you no doubt want to dive right into finding the hottest styles of the year. For about the last ten years, strapless dresses have dominated wedding dress styles over any type of sleeve. Both styles look to be equally as common in 2010, starting new trends in length, tightness, and designs.
Making the most waves in the latest wedding gown designs, would have to be Ivanka Trump's beautiful Vera Wang gown. The two ladies worked to create what Ivanka wanted - "something new." The hand-made lacy gown was inspired Princess Grace Kelly's 1956 gown when she tied the knot with Prince Rainer II of Monaco. The lines of the gown are somewhat illusionary, as the arm length ends beautifully right above the elbow. The dress is sure to inspire sleeves to come hurtling back into popular wedding dress styles. The patterns of sheer fabric look beautiful against the skin, not covering completely and adding visual interest to the gown.
Several styles from the forties and fifties are emerging as old looks with modern twists. These vintage throwbacks include ball gown, mermaid, and the classic 1950's housewife dress, turned into a wedding gown. The ball gown style is all elegance, and works very well to elongate the waist. Fitting tight around the torso, it begins to flare out at the hips, and keeps going, reaching to the floor. The tightness of the upper part of the dress works to give cleavage, and shape your whole body into a nice hourglass figure. Somewhat similar to the ball gown style, is the mermaid style, made popular by Audrey Hepburn. This style is a knockout figure-flatterer as it shapes the bust, waist, and hips before flaring out. Generally, the flare of the mermaid dress starts about midway down the thigh. Cinch that waist with a 1950's influenced gown. These gowns often appear somewhat conservative, and at times bulky. Most of them have a sash or belt around the waist, and begin to flare immediately below the waist. For anyone wishing to hide their hips, this dress will work nicely.

Are you getting married in the great outdoors, in the warm months of spring or summer and wish to choose a dress that will aid in your comfort. Also considered vintage, the tea-length dress comes just below the knee. These gowns are quite stylish, and look great strapless, spaghetti strapped, or half-sleeved. Plunging necklines send the eye down, and work well with simple necklaces. Occasionally, this style is worn with a tied-ribbon sash under the bust, which is very cute for a young bride.

Look like a goddess in a Grecian-style wedding gown. The Grecian look can be achieved by a long, silhouette of a dress, with a slight flowing feel or by using many layers that overlap one another. To catch the eye, choose certain areas of the dress to add detail. Opting for a halter or off the shoulder neckline can be beautiful ways to accent the Grecian look. Pleated v-necks offer a flattering appearance for the full-figured woman. Since this style is often open and airy, it is ideal for summer weddings.

27, Sunscreen Rave & Birthday Wrap-Up

It's 12:02 a.m. right now, which means my 27th birthday is officially over, and it was such a great one! I started my day today with a Starbucks Skinny Vanilla Latte and a spinach egg wrap.  Perfection. If only every day could start that way. Then my husband some friends and I headed to the Four Seasons for some pool time (because really, you can't ever really have enough pool time.)  There were

MAC Shadow: Shimmermoss

Time for another of my MAC shadows. I picked out Shimmermoss as it was the topic of discussion on Twitter earlier today.

I finally managed to get onto the MAC site so I can actually give you pricing information this time.
-Pro pans are £9.00
-Eye shadow pots are £11.00

In the picture, the shadow is swatched dry onto bare skin on the left and dry over primer on the right.

I do have to confess, this is my absolute favourite MAC eye shadow! I adore this colour. It's not too apparent from the picture, but there's a huge dip in this. I'm almost at the pan. Not quite time to buy another one yet, but I'm hoping MAC doesn't discontinue this shade! I actually bought this the day the Veluxe Pearl finish was released in the UK.

Shimmermoss is a gorgeous teal with a turquoise pearl shimmer. It's one of the veluxe pearl finishes which I think are some of MAC's best. Although I do think some of the newer releases of veluxe pearl shadows haven't had the same rich pigmentation of these. Shimmermoss is very pigmented and rich in colour. The finish is very soft and smooth, along the same lines as the ME finish from Shu Uemura and the Deluxe shadows from Urban Decay.

I love this over a green base, something like "Lucky Jade" shadestick, in order to bring out the green tones. I wear this a lot with "Freshwater" or other deep blues and greens.

Turban

turban

Well HELLOOO!! how cool is this turban?? I`ve had the idea of buying one for a while now, but why do that when you can make one of your scarves? That is also pretty cool if you think of how many scarves you might have lying around in that drawer… I know I have a few..

You wanna make one too?

Well. Of course, I`ll let you in on the secret..

Sweet AMBER set me off on this one, with this video:

Azthek and drapes

outfit29mai

Hi! this is just me trying out outfits yesterday. I had a hard time desciding. You know, it was that kind of day when nothing seems to be right, and whatever you put on, you don`t feel well and comfortable in! I ended up with this and had my hair loose and wore my orange hot ring together with this. Also my cropped biker leatherjacket in the most amazing soft leather. I love how the azthek print goes so well togehter with silk material such as this brown shiny draped skirt I got at H&M in Shanghai. As it goes for my makeup, I had brown smokey eyes with pale skin. And a hot pink lipstick. I thought it was too much just applying with the stick or a brush, so I just took some on my finger and applied just a little, for that “just beeing kissed”- look. I thought It was pretty neat.

Soooo. can`t wait to hear your opinion!

Have you guys had a great Sunday so far?? I`ve been up to nothing much really, but now I have to start thinking of packing my suitcase. I`m off to Oslo where I`m attending this course in relation with my work. I`m planning to stay for a week, but am sure to bring my computer with me! So there will be some posts, but maybe a fewer since my days will be packed!

Until then my lovers!

FOTD: 30/05/10

I got some videos recorded this morning, including an ELF Cosmetics tutorial. I decided to leave this one as my FOTD as I really love the mineral shadow I used. All ELF products can be found at eyeslipsface.co.uk

I used:
-ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer
-L'Oreal True Match Foundation "Candy Cane"
-ELF All Over Colour Stick "Spotlight"
-ELF Mineral Mineral Shadow "Trendy"
-ELF Studio Eye Shadow "Charcoal"
-ELF Brightening Eye Colour Quad "Hazy Hazel"
-ELF Liquid Eyeliner "Plum"
-ELF Mineral Mascara "Black"
-ELF Studio Blusher "Peachy Keen"
-ELF Minty Lipgloss "Nashville"

I can't work out what colour "Trendy" actually is! I'm going to tag it under gold and pink!

Please note that most, but not all, of the above ELF products were received for review and tutorial purposes.

Foundation review #17: Biotherm Light! (spf 10)

I know, I know, I should stay away from new foundations but well... I still consider Nars Sheer Glow to be my holy grail, and I wear Clarins Everlasting more than I thought I would, but as the temperature has been going up, I started craving dewiness. Which is weird because I've been into über matte my whole life.

So I went to a local department store on a mission to find some foundation that would be light and easy to wear, sheer and dewy, but would still last all day and be better at evening out my skintone than a simple tinted moisturizer. I gave that briefing to a SA, and was surprised when se recommended that Biotherm foundation. I think I actually didn't know Biotherm did makeup, I only knew them for the skincare only.

Light! is the most natural foundation in their range, and it totally fulfills my requests.

PROS:
It's sheer but has a bit of coverage
It's dewy without looking greasy at all
It stays on all day as it's not overly moisturizing
It has an SPF 10 in it (which isn't much but probably enough for the days I spent locked in the office).
The packaging is no-nonsense, it comes with a pump and a small transparent cap

CONS:
For me, none, but the shade selection offer is quite small. Nothing very pale or very pink is available. So this product will unfortunately not work for everybody.

Now how does this compare to Korres Wild Rose or Bobbi Brown Luminous, that I reviewed previously?

Well on me, the Korres one didn't last well all day, and that's probably because it's meant for dry skin and was too moisturizing for me. It worked better on top of a primer, but wearing a primer on hot days when I want lightness isn't exactly what I want. So I just gave that one to a colleague who has a more mature/dry skin.

As far as the BB is concerned, I still like it a lot. Actually I would still be wearing this one if it weren't for one thing: the smell really bothers me. I find it quite sour and really bothering. I don't know if that's normal, though, and I'll be checking that next time I visit the Bobbi counter, because I might just have gotten an old bottle? Other than that it's a tad bit more covering than Biotherm Light, but quite similar.

But Biotherm has one undeniable competitive advantage: it's 24€ for 30 ml, which is much cheaper than Bobbi Brown or a lot of other high end brands. Also, it's available everywhere, unlike some other brands.

All in all, a very nice product that will stay with me for Summer!

Birthday Celebrations- What I Wore

Five Products I'm Using A Lot!

I posted on twitter a couple of days ago, asking what I should blog about. Happy1234 suggested a top 5 of my most used products of right now. Since I seem to have given up doing a monthly favourites video (does anyone want me to start on those again?), I thought that was a pretty neat idea for a post.

-ELF Mineral Infused Primer - I've been testing this one out for reviewing and I'm really impressed with it. A really good primer if you're on a budget. Works well for helping my foundation to last. I'll certainly continue using this until it's empty and will probably repurchase.
-ELF Studio Under Eye Concealer "Glow/Light" - Admittedly, I've barely touched the highlighter shade! But the concealer side seems to be just the right tone of yellowy peach to counteract my dark circles. I've been using this pretty much constantly and there is still a huge amount left in the tube. I will get round to reviewing this! (PR sample for review)
-Bourjois Smokey Eye Brush - This one was a surprise for me. Bought on a whim (Sophie made me!) from Superdrug, this brush has become an absolute staple for smudging out my lower liner. I think this was only around £5.00 as well so it's a bargain!
-MAC Eye Shadow "Jete" - A limited edition from ages ago. It doesn't have nearly enough pigmentation for a lid shade so I've been using it as a highlighter. Works nicely to add some sheen to my brow bone without being frosty like "Nylon" can be.
-Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner "Black Plum Ink" - I definitely prefer Bobbi Brown's gel liners to MAC's. This is an interesting shade, not quite purple and not quite black. I use it a lot when black is too harsh and I need something a little softer. This one has great pigmentation and is very easy to apply.

Review: ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer

I had received a huge number of requests to review this before I finally got my hands on it. I have reviewed it on YouTube, you can find the video here. I actually checked the ELF site every day until this came back in stock and the minute it did, Mum and I both ordered one each!

The primer is available from eyeslipsface.co.uk for £6.00 (14g). It contains the "usual" primer ingredients: silica and the "cones". A full ingredient list can be found on the website.

This primer is a thick, clear gel housed in a pump bottle. I'm not sure why the bottle is white, it does prevent you from seeing how much you have left. The pump does unscrew if you want to have a look. The major issue I have with this product is the pump. I think once of those airless pumps (that push the product up from the bottom and scrape the sides) would have worked better than this one. As the primer is so thick, we're getting the Urban Decay Primer Potion problem! Once the primer has been used from the middle of the bottle, it's then too thick to settle out and clings to the sides. This means that the pump isn't actually reaching any of the primer.

But, that issue aside, it's actually a pretty good primer! I only use a tiny amount over my whole face. One full pump of the primer is actually far too much for one application. This applies very easily over my skin and leaves a very smooth surface for my foundation - liquid foundation just glides over the top. I have found that for best foundation application it is best to let it sit and soak into your skin for a couple of minutes before you apply foundation.

It does help my foundation to last longer through the day, but not as long as my Urban Decay primer does. I still tend to get oily on my chin, but it takes longer for that to appear when I've got this primer underneath my foundation. I always lose my foundation around my nose - I'm a glasses wearer and I've never found a primer or foundation that will survive glasses.

If you're looking to try out foundation primers, then definitely give this one a go. When it's in stock, that is! It does tend to sell out.

Color Focus: Soft Pinks I'm Loving Right Now

I decided to do a different twist on my regular monthly Ten Things I'm Loving Right Now and combine this with my color focus feature. I like soft pinks because they always look so pretty in the compact and tubes. But finding a good soft pink can be a bit tricky sometimes. I can't tell you how many soft pinks have made me oooohh and aaaahhh only to find it looks way to light or washed out on my skin (ala MAC Hue/Angel Lipstick or Trish McEvoy Gorgeous Demure Lipstick). It still doesn't stop me from trying to make them work though, lol. That being said, the products listed below are my no-fail and no-tweaking required soft pinks.

There are so many favorites, but these are the ones I've been using a lot in the past month. I am actually just starting my 3rd tube of MAC Fabby (see below)! Laura Mercier Babydoll Lip Glace is a favorite that looks good on practically all my friends whether they are fair skinned or tanned.

I have many more favorites but if I featured all my loves, this would just be a never-ending article if I pulled every single soft pink from my stash. What are some of your favorites and what is your skintone?

FYI, in case you're new to my blog, I'm a Chanel Shell 1.5 Teint Innocence right now. This is the equivalent to what's right in between MAC NC30 and NC35. I'm at that point again where I'm in between shades for most foundation lines. You can see My Foundation Shades HERE. I recently tried Bobbi Brown's newest foundation and found a perfect match in Natural Finish formula shade 4.25 Natural Tan, however the formula didn't work so well with my skin. So far, Chanel Teint Innocence and Lift Lumieres and DPFs are my holy grails.
