Paris Couture - 1966

How about a little Parisian couture from the Fall of 1966 today? Yes, I thought so.

Left: Christian Dior black silk crepe dinner dress with a wide band of silver sequins at the empire waist and at the same level on the upper arm. The long sleeves are slit to the wrist.
Right: Christian Dior black silk crepe evening gown with cut-outs at the back accented with diamanté ball buttons.

This cut-out style was destined to be copied by nearly everyone. I've sold numerous 1960's cocktail dresses with interesting cut-outs at the back. This is the original.

Lanvin black silk crepe evening gown is circled in stripes of pink, acid green, and black sequins at the bodice. Interesting squared-off armholes.

Patou coatdress in cream double-faced wool that has been cut on the bias. Welted seams tame the bias. Worn with ribbed tights, kidskin boots, and a wool cap over a silk head scarf.

Left: Philippe Venet back wrap coat in neon yellow brushed wool fleece.
Right: Philippe Venet back wrap coat in cream wool fleece. Has a belt and a slit at the front hem.

OK, I have to comment on these coats. They close in the back. Interesting, but I can just see myself trying to figure out how the heck this was worn if I ever found one of these at an estate. I would more than likely have put it on the mannequin backwards and wondered why it wasn't falling correctly and why the pockets were on the back!

Yves St. Laurent grey wool coat with a flared fit and big silver disc buttons.

Yves St. Laurent black wool coat fitted at the bodice and flaring below the waist. Accented with big gold disc buttons.

November Favourites

Eeek, where did November go, it's almost over already! Time to post my favourites, then!

China Glaze Avalanche nail polish

I love this color so much that I have re-used it several times, which I never do - I rotate my polishes and hardly wear the same color twice in a month!
It's a perfect shade of plumy taupe, kind of Mac Satin Taupe turned into a metallic polish, greyish and purple-ish at the same time. I ♥ it.

Armani Luminous Silk foundation
I know I must sound silly for having a new favourite foundation every month. I guess I just need to accept that even if I find holy grails foundations, I'll still want to try other ones just in case there would be a holier grail somewhere. I love Armani on the days where I don't need a full coverage, I'm definitely planning on repurchasing it.

YSL Rouge Volupté #1 Beige Charnel.
Don't be fooled by its name, this lipstick is actually very pink. But the beige undertone makes it warmer, hence much more wearable for me. I have been wearing it a lot this month despite my infamous love for dark lips.

Bobby Brown Gel Liner in Sepia.
My love affair with BB liners continues. As much as I love the Sapphire Ink I got last Summer, there are definitely looks that don't mach a blue liner very well, so I decided to get a more neutral shade and got Sepia.
It's so easy to apply even I can do it perfectly in 30 secs, it lasts all day, can be worn on the waterline, and the color is a very nice muted brown.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel lip balm.

A friend of mine has been raving about this product for years. But I never gave it a try because I have noticed most lipbalms actually make my lips more dry and peely that they already are, so for years I have sticked to the one lipbalm that worked fine for me: Louis Widmer Switzerland.
But you know me... I can't help trying new products and I finally got this product, which is full of honey and essential oils, and actually so yummy that I could eat the whole jar!! (It tastes like a Christmassy orange and cinnamon drink, to me). And well, it WORKS. I apply it every night, fall asleep with this delicious sugary taste on the lips and wake up with soft lips.
This is also very good to soothe irritated skin around the nose or mouth when you have a cold.
Too bad I didn't try it sooner!

What are your favourites for November?

Designer Wedding Dress Neckline Cuts

By Arianna Jordan

When buying a Designer Wedding Dress, it is important to be aware of the various factions neckline that there. It is important to remember that different cuts compliment different types of the body. With so many options available today, starting with the beloved, cut to a strapless watch Off-The-shoulder style, the bride may not know where to start! If you are in a decision Wednesday on a designer wedding dress, who knows all about the specific cleavage of abbreviations can help you make the right decision.

Sweetheart

Designer Wedding DressSweetheart neckline resembles the upper part of the heart, hence the name. This cleavage is a good option for fuller-figured bride, as stressed by the chest. In most cases, sweetheart neckline is overlay net material rising above the heart, or some form of thin tubes, both of which provide a more compact form to the torso. This effect also makes the neck look longer and more romantic. The bride with a more boyish figure should be avoided Sweetheart neckline.

Strapless

While some brides should avoid strapless neckline, a miracle for others. In many cases, strapless neckline can be paired with a sweetheart neckline and a straight neckline that gives the illusion of a smaller figure of the bride. Women with broad shoulders should avoid strapless wedding dress, but with those fragile shoulders and collarbone will do quite well with this style.

Not on the shoulder

Off-The-shoulder wedding gown neckline is very popular. Just as you can imagine, cleavage begins just below the shoulders and stresses the neck, shoulders and collarbone. Off-The-shoulder, has a small cut sleeves, which cover the upper arm. This neckline flattering to all figures, but with the bride is full of weapons or problems with their shoulders should avoid it. This style is perfect for pear-shaped women, and all who would like to show their shoulders.

Sabrina

Designer Wedding DressSabrina neckline, also known as Batu neckline, perfect for brides with a certain type of body. This cleavage, cut straight across, it should curve clavicle, edging close to the edge of the shoulders. Sabrina is usually accompanied by a sleeve, although many designers are now pairing it with a sleeveless styles of clothing. Well-endowed women should avoid Sabrina neckline.

Portrait

Women with full arms and prominent collarbones can seriously consider the portrait neckline for a wedding dress. By analogy with the Off-The-shoulder style, but with a fabric portrait of a spoon over his shoulder (from tip to tip). If you are uncertain clavicle, it is probably not for you neck.

Scoop

Any person, regardless of what type of body, may be a scoop neckline. This is the ultimate classic style, and can be low or high "Cut." In many cases, supplemented by the lower front shovel bucket in the back.

Halter

If you have broad shoulders, you can try on a wedding dress over. Regarding the particular strap that wraps around the neck which is fastened by tying the straps or buttons. The neck is usually high with deep armhole and is ideal for very tall women (usually 5? 7? And above.) If you have narrow shoulders, neck excuse can not work for you.

V-Neck

V-neck dress quite understandable; neckline descends in front of imitating the form of letters? V.? Notches can be supplemented by a similar dip in the back, but not always. This neckline draws attention from the breast and is a great alternative for brides with B-or C-CUP. Most brides-to-be can take V-neck.

Jewel

Designer Wedding DressJewel neckline is quite a new style in the way of designer wedding dress. It is also often called the T-shirt neckline as it looks almost like the average T-shirt. Decollete rounded and sits at the base of the neck. Some dresses even play with the idea of t-shirt and place decorative pocket on the front panel. Jewel neckline is great for a modest figure, because it enhances the bust. Some women want to avoid this neckline as it will make your breasts seem larger.

After reading all these reductions wedding dress neckline, you may think you know exactly which one is right for you. But do not forget that this is only general suggestions, and that you are best to try on any clothes, regardless of the neck that you would when shopping. Also keep in mind that just because you love the photo, the dress could not look straight at you. Always try on a wedding dress (more than once) to keep your options open.

Bare Escentuals Big Tease Mascara- Want

Hmm, ever buy anything that was slightly above mediocre, roughly around decent?
I really wanted like this mascara. I guess Icould see it becoming a staple. It's one of those products that doesn't specialize in one area, but provides a little bit of everything. After one application, you don't get exceptional length or volume, but you get a decent amount of both. I lied, it is great in a few aspects- it's incredibly glossy and it never clumps. It also works really with false lashes and Fast Lash while providing an outstanding black.
The wand is pretty neat too, it's got really long bristles on one side that are supposed to help coat every single eye lash from root to tip. After I got the hang of it, I must admit that it does.
I like that it lasts all day without smudging, flaking, or smearing. But I have very high standards for mascara- those qualities should go without saying.
The value is alright though, I've been using this same tube for 4 months, there's still plenty left and it shows no signs of drying out. However, it's still more expensive then MAC Plush, so I'd rather buy that at $13 instead.
Cost: $15 at Ulta, Sephora, Bare Escentuals online.

Dress Sale

Dress Sale

Dress Sale Wedding Dresses Priced For Incredible Savings

By Deborah qty

Almost every bride wants to pay a fair price for her wedding dress sale. But how do you know if the sale of wedding dress is actually a dress sale or simply reduce the price of the suit, which is over priced to begin with?

Dress SaleDid you know that it costs about $ 148, to an average of $ 2000 wedding dresses? Yes, it is a fact. Editing on wedding dresses insane. And worse yet, mention the word "wedding", and prices are just magically increases. So how can you resist and continue to receive a designer dress, what you want? The answer is simple! Take a few tips from the wedding Insiders and you'll know exactly where to go for the dress sale of wedding dress that will save you thousands, not hundreds!

First, it is important to know how the wedding dress of the industry and wedding dresses, which actually came.

Over the past ten years, you probably noticed the huge reduction Bridal shops across the country. This is for several reasons. The first of which, where a large proportion of clothing being manufactured. Now more than ever the vast majority of evening dresses and wedding dresses, created in China. Many top designers have shops in this country and do not seem to change anytime soon. But the good news is, with all these manufacturers in the country, prices may actually be understated by competition alone.

With the advent of the Internet, brides who shop online can often buy directly from the manufacturer or wholesaler wedding dress and instead of saving hundreds, now could save thousands! Ten years ago, most women would never consider buying their wedding dress online. But now, with the dress sale of wedding dresses prices every day online, buying a wedding dress over the Internet can be a very wise choice.

Dress SaleSo how do you know if you get the real deal or not? Keep in mind the actual cost of $ 2000 dress and go from there. Online stores Suite are the same as any other retail store. They must earn money to stay in business, but their profits are usually much smaller because of the low overhead involved in managing Ecommerce wedding dress shop. Most brides find that these stores have a wedding dress sale price, which in reality their "regular everyday prices."

Another way to get the dress sale price of wedding dresses is to find online stores that do order dresses. Often you can get a $ 2000 designer "look like" or "inspired" wedding dress for $ 300. That is the real selling wedding dresses, that someone wants to use it!

Jars!

I think I've mentioned several times that I really hate using mineral samples out of baggies. I don't mind them being sent that way as it saves a great deal in terms of packaging and postage costs. If baggies mean I'm paying $1.00 for a sample rather than $1.50 then I'm all for it, but I just hate sticking my brush into one of them!

After some searching, I've finally found a decent UK supplier of 3g jars (I prefer 3g to 5g for some reason). I had been ordering from the US which cost a fortune in postage and usually meant a customs charge. Previously, I hadn't had much luck in finding someone selling less than 1000 in the UK and some 5g jars I had bought previously on eBay had been of low quality.

JT Shop sell 3g, 5g, 10g, 20g, and 30g jars in quantities from 2 jars up to lots of 500, with or without sifters. I ordered 50 3g jars without a sifter for £11.95 and £2.99 p&p. I ordered on a Friday night and they were here on the Monday.

They may not be as cheap as when they come from the US, but I think I'll be getting them from here in future.

MAC Shygirl, My favorite lipstick of all time!

MAC Shygirl Lipstick
On the MAC website Shygirl is described as a creamy, neutral coral-beige. It's not really the most accurate description - because there is definitely some pink tones in Shygirl. To me, it's a mixture of pink, coral & peach with possibly the slightest hint of beige. I never really considered Shygirl neutral - but I suppose it's not too warm, not cool - but somewhere in between. It has the tiniest particles of bright pink sparkles which makes the color shine beautifully on the lips. The pigmentation is amazing, and the the color applies very creamy. It's a perfect every day shade that actually brightens up my face once applied!

My only complaint about this lipstick is the formula. You ought to store this lipstick in the fridge if you live in a really heated climate. Just about every tube of mine has tilted, smashed or melted. So be extra careful with it! :)

Island Wedding Dresses and Wedding Gowns

Island Wedding Dresses and Wedding Gowns
A train that is extended is not advisable when the wedding location is outdoors, but a shorter version is acceptable. In keeping with an island wedding theme, sarongs, tea length dresses, or short wedding dresses lend themselves really well. This means the bride's wedding dress will have to be packed, therefore a dress that irons well or less likely to crease is a safe bet.

The advantage to these fabrics is their easy mobility; to limit the amount of sticking or clinging a fabric may have against a bride's skin, in the hot weather. To be capable of using these trade winds in a bride's favor, fabrics that are light weight are best, such as georgette, linen, charmeuse, gauze, satin, cotton, silk, and chiffon. One of these is the trade winds, which are breezy and light. several aspects must be respected for the bride to feel comfortable at the beach during an island wedding. Island wedding dress fabrics Island wedding dresses are more an idea or a feeling than style per se.

My November Favorites!

1) Revlon Colorstay Mineral Lip Glaze in Unlimited Nectar. This is the typical lip gloss I would wear every day. I would either pair it with Revlon Nude Attitude or wear it by itself. It is the perfect peach. And it lasts for hours, which is plus for me because I don't have time to reapply at work! As you can see, its pretty empty, so I need to buy a new one soon!
2) Napoleon Perdis Eyeshadow Palette. I bought this palette from Target by the holiday makeup sets for $9.99. I've been using these shadows just about every day. My favs. are the dark brown (which reminds me of Urban Decay Twice Baked) & the shimmery black. The colors are all pigmented and well worth $10!
3) NYX Powder Blush in Sand. This is definitely one of my new favorite bronzers. I've been using it just about every day since I purchased it. It's subtle, but you can definitely build the color. The consistency is so prefect that It never smears, blotches or gets muddy on my face. It blends flawlessly and it has a beautiful golden sheen.
4) NYX Single Eye Shadow in Dark Brown. I love this for filling in my brows. I like using it on days where I don't wear much makeup and I want my brows to look more natural. Like I've mentioned in previous posts, I love using it along with Make Up Forever's brow corrector.
5) MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow in Gilt by Association. I love smudging this under my lash line and above my lash line along with a black eye shadow. It's so gorgeous and gives my eyes a small pop of color and shimmer.
6) ULTA Nail Lacquer in X-Dry. This is my favorite top coat at the moment. My nail polish always lasts a solid week before any chipping and it dries in less than a minute.
7) LA Girl Matte Nail Polish in Turquoise. I usually get tired of nail polishes quick, but I keep on using this color without getting sick of it. I think its the perfect color for the season. :) I like to wear it matte, or with a shiny top coat.
8) MAC Stripdown Lip Liner. This is the perfect every day lip liner. I always wear it with my Revlon lipgloss, mentioned 1st.. and it looks gorgeous!
9) Covergirl Lash Blast. Yeah, I know you're sick of hearing it, but it had to go in my November favorites! 10) 40 Carrots Moisture Splurge. This is an awesome moisturizer I picked up at Marshalls for $6.99. I use it every day as a moisturizer before I apply my foundation. The consistency is runny, and It leaves my skin moist without being too saturated or creamy. And, the smell is amazing!!! It's mango and carrots. I can't get enough of this stuff.

What are some of your favorites this month?! Please Share!

Swatches of Coastal Scents Undercover HD Foundation

I noticed the HD foundations on Coastal Scents a few days ago. They cost $16.95 which seems to be quite reasonable for a HD foundation. It's that new that there are only a few videos about it on YouTube! I hadn't expected to be sent any to be honest as foundation can be hard to judge. I was very surprised to get home from work to find a box containing the full set of 14.

Clearly, I'm not going to be using most of these shades. However, after doing a quick poke around the message boards a common complaint was the poor quality swatches on Coastal Scents. They really don't look anything like the real product. So, why not swatch the whole set?

Please click on the photos to enlarge!

There are some large gaps in shades, so a lot of people are going to find it difficult to find a match. I think there needs to be something between ST-03 and ST-04, there are about two shades between the two. Also, there is a large gap between the very olive toned ST-12 and the more orange based ST-13. I think there could be as many as three missing shades here.

I've been matched to NW15 at MAC and there isn't one foundation here that is an exact match. I'm pretty much there by mixing ST-01 with a tiny amount of ST-04. ST-02 is too beige for me and ST-03 is too yellow. Both shades look very similar in the bottle but once they're on the skin there is a difference.

I will eventually be reviewing this foundation, but I'm planning on at least 2 weeks of use before I can do that. Please also note that I am not familiar with MAC foundations. I cannot tell you which the equivalent will be in the Coastal Scents HD foundation.

I have plans for the spare bottles, please no comments asking me to send you any I'm not using.

These foundations were sent to me for review by Coastal Scents.

I hope these swatches are helpful for anyone planning on trying the foundation! They're not offering samples of these, but I wish they would!

Eye of the day: fall colors

Lately I've been finding that all my looks were kind of blah. I have been drawn to neutrals but the way I've used them kind of make them boring, I guess. So yesterday, I thought what the heck and decided to go bright!

I used Mac Golden Lemon and several Dazzle Dusts from Barry M (I ♥ them): Marigold, Bronze and Chocolate (#41, 44 and 53). I lined the waterline with Mac Khôl Pencil Prunella.

That was a nice change. I think, Winter or not, that I need to use brights more often!
