MAC Freckletone Lipstick Dupe!! & Palladio Cosmetics Haul!

While shopping at Sally's Beauty Supply, I was looking at Palladio Cosmetics. I purchased something called Herbal Lip Slix - ultra shiny lip gloss crayon in the shade Creme Cocoa PLC09. It's basically a lip stick crayon. The texture is very smooth and creamy and the finish is shiny and pretty opaque. I've been wearing it for a few days and noticed that it looks exactly like one of my MAC favorites.. Freckletone. When comparing both, I couldn't tell them apart. The texture, finish, color.. It is the perfect dupe if you want to try Freckletone without spending $14.50 plus tax, and maybe not liking it. This crayon is $5.99, but I got it for 20%. They also sell this at ULTA, and ULTA always has buy one get one sales.. and they have great weekly coupons.

I also bought a concealer stick in the shade "light". Medium looked a little dark for me for a concealer. I already have a yellow color corrector concealer stick and it covers really good.. so I wanted to give another shade a try. Great coverage, it's very creamy and doesn't crease.

and, I bought a beautiful baked blush that reminds me of a mac mineralize blush, but I can't think of which one it looks like. Palladio has a realllyy nice selection of blushes. And they have great lasting power. This one is called "choc-au-lait"

Review: MAC 217 Brush

I have been fiddling with the blog settings again! I've reduced the number of blog entries on a page down to 10 from 15. I don't know the meaning of short entries so hopefully the page won't be so huge! Now I'm getting more and more views on the first page, it'll reduce the amount of bandwidth I'm using per month as there will be fewer pictures on each page. I've taken a couple of things off the side bar, and added a Google Blog search widget. I've also changed my avatar, the one I was using was about 5 years old! Anyway, review time!

MAC use a numbering system for their brushes, like a few of the higher end companies do. Those with fewer brushes tend to use names, but MAC have a lot of brushes! The 100 series is for the face, 200 for the eyes and 300 for the lips.

Today, we're going to be having a look at the MAC 217 brush. It's sold for £14.00 on the
MAC UK website, along with various counters and stores dotted around the country. It's available world wide. I've had mine for nearly as long as I've owned my 239 so I probably paid a little less for mine.

I have owned this nearly as long as I have had my 239. Maybe I bought it the next time I went into a MAC, I can't remember! The photo above was taken just after it had been cleaned. This brush was actually slightly damaged after I had moved house. A few hairs were bent and in the end I had to pull out those few hairs. I hated doing that but I just could not get them to lie flat.

The 217 is made from white goat hair which has a firm, but not stiff texture. The bristles have the same texture as the 239 but as the bristles are longer, they have much more "give" to them. The firmness allows application of colour to the crease, but the softness and length of the bristle allow for easy blending of the crease area. The rounded edge of the brush fits perfectly into my crease area.

This brush will pick up a lot of colour so you do need to work very carefully if you are using this to apply colour to your crease. I think I need another one of these so I can use one for colour application and the other for blending! MAC says this can be used to apply cream products as well, but I haven't tried it for that.

The white bristles can get stained, especially with bright blues (that I've found). But the stain will wash out as I use and clean the brush. As with my MAC 239 brush, the writing has worn off the handle. It's easy enough to prevent by covering the lettering with clear polish but it's something I never remember to do!

When you wash this brush it will splay out and become very, very fluffy. I really don't like it being so fluffy, it doesn't work so well in my crease. Mine gets dried in a brush guard, that way the bristles are kept together and it dries in the shape in the picture.

I'm not sure this brush is an absolute must have for someone just building their brush collection, but for me it's an essential blending and crease brush.

Selina Khan Test Shots

Glad to see Selina Khan getting out of those pre-pubescent Teen Vogue images. These pictures are sexy and worthy of Elle or Vogue. Vogue China, the most multi-racially inclusive titles among the lots, should book her for an editorial, as long as they don't put her in an Indian theme story.

Aftermath of typhoon santi

Its eleven am in the morning, this is what left after powerful strong winds hit us last night. Its so hard to sleep, the winds is so strong slamming the house wall and window and makes this scary howling sound. I woke up at around 5am and went around the house to check damages and see our pets cats, dogs, birds and fish, and glad they are ok. The only damage left are the plant and trees.

I slept again at 6am and woke up at eleven, then its sunny already and the typhoon is already out of the country. We have no elec here and im using my phone to post a mobile blog.

Last night the sky turned blue for 4 sec it was lovely to see it, but im not sure if that is a lightning or an elec burst from damage powerlines, coz there is no sound and i know elec burst are colored purple.

Ok.im going now to manila and will be in quezon province tom.

Real Wedding: Michelle + Justin's Haunted Night

A special wedding with a haunted past ... Michelle + Justin tied the knot at The Forster Mansion, which is believed to be haunted. According to legend there is a ghost - George - who lives there, and has a tendency to smoke cigars in the house. Who doesn't love a good ghost story! George is believed to live in the cemetery. So, of course there needed to be some portraits in the cemetery :) The wedding is a perfect blend of just a touch creepy, but super romantic. Thanks so much to the talented photography duo of Gabriel + Carlie at Gabriel Ryan for sending me this wedding.

Jane Irwill Sweaters

The Jane Irwill Company was a manufacturer best known for their sweaters. Started in 1923 by Irving Louis, Jane Irwill produced basic and fashion sweaters, sometimes with co-ordinates. In the mid 1960s, the company tried to become more fashion forward by collaborating with designers Donald Brooks and Ingeborg Markus, and in 1973, Jane Irwill was contracted to make Yves St. Laurent's basic sweaters for the US and Canadian markets. The company disappeared from media mention by the late 1970s.

Here, from 1955, are examples of what Jane Irwill is best known for, basic sweaters with matching co-ordinates.

Sweaters in Super Orlon with matching wool skirts were produced in 15 colors and were sold in such stores as B. Altman and Marshall Field. The sweaters sold for $6.50 each (about $52.00 in today's dollar) and the skirts for $9.00 each (about $72.00 in today's dollar).

These sweater styles were made in Botany wool in 14 colors and coordinated with matching wool skirts. The sweaters sold for $6.50 each (about $52.00 in today's dollar) and the skirts for $11.00 each (about $88.00 in today's dollar).

5. Nominate 7 Kreative Bloggers.

7. Leave a comment to each of the blogs letting them know they have been nominated.

7 interesting things about myself: (I've done so many tags that I feel like I've told you guys everything! lol)
1. I'm completely shoe crazed. When I was younger, I could care less about shoes.. I would buy a new pair of shoes once mine were worn out or broken. Throughout highschool, I wasn't that into shoes either. I use to wear air force one high tops throughout high school. But, when I got my 1st high end retail store job in the shoe dept, I went crazy and I have probably 100 pairs of shoes now.
2. I sucked my thumb till I was probably 7 or 8. lol I made a deal with my dentist that If I stopped sucking my thumb for one month, he'll give me two beanie babies of my choice. So I stuck to it and put a sticker on the calendar every day I didn't suck my thumb and I got my beanie's and never sucked my thumb again. haha
3. When I was younger I was the biggest pack rat. I would not give anything up. I still have everything from my childhood in boxes in storage. Even school papers from when I was in 1st grade. lol I wish I would of thrown them out when I was younger. I feel bad throwing them now. I'm not a pack rat anymore though.. I hate clutter and I don't attach myself to anything.
4. I have ankyloglossia also known as tongue tied. What it basically is, is the tissue under your tongue thats usually attached to the middle of your tongue.. is attached too far forward and it basically restricts much movement of your tongue. SO.. I can't french kiss that well.. lol and I can't lick my lips without pulling my lips in. You can get that tissue snipped.. its a short procedure. I really want that done!!
5. I've always hated my name.. I always use to want to change it until maybe when I was 14 years old.
6. I always loved makeup. I use to always watch my mom put her makeup on and I would always take her makeup and put it on. It would always make my dad mad. lol He didn't want me wearing makeup. I started wearing makeup when I was in 7th grade. I remember wearing frosty purple, pink and white wet n wild lipstick with silver, white or blue eye liner. lol so tacky!
7. I'm awesome at Ice Skating. :) I took lessons.

Now.. I nominate:
(also check out their blogs and follow! :) )
1)L1LMAMAJ
2)HANNAH
3)NICOLE
4)AMIRA
5)LACY
6)THE PRINCESSA
7)CHERYL (you know I had to tag you.. haha)
