Philippine Pre-selections to the MSI Master Overclocking Arena: The Campaign for Domination Begins

I haven't tried over clocking my PC , but Im aware of the risk and also the success of putting your PC in a great condition. MSI emailed me and told me about this olympic-like over clocking competition, its a national contest and the winner here will go to APAC Championship in Indonesia to represent us and move on to the World Master Overclocking Arena finals in Taiwan.  check out the details below

Manila, Philippines – March 29, 2011 – MSI (Micro-Star International),
one of the world’s top motherboard and videocard manufacturers, has launched the 2011 Master Overclocking Arena, or MOA to find the most dominant overclocker from Asia and around the world…

And this May, it is coming to the Philippines! Recognized around the world as one of the most competitive and relevant competitions for the PC technophile, this MSI-sponsored event brings together avid overclockers from around the world, and pits them against each other in a test of guts, skills and experience.

While being familiar with BIOS menus, voltage limits, cooling methods and other extreme stuff is helpful, this competition is open to anyone with a desktop computer and who wants the chance to go to Indonesia for the APAC Championship and to Taiwan for the World Grand Finals – all-expenses paid, and earn the distinction as Philippine representative to MOA.

First stage of the MOA eliminations: The Online Battle

The top ten highest scorers in the online elimination round will then join the Philippine finals to be held at SM North EDSA CyberZone on May 21, 2011. The one among the top 10 who will dominate the live Philippine finals will bring home MSI’s Military Class II arsenal, the MSI P67A-GD5 and MSI N560GTX-Ti TwinFrozr II. Other finalists will also automatically receive MSI premium items.

First, in order to qualify, the following benchmarks are required: Wprime 1024 and 3DMark Vantage, Performance settings. Entries may be submitted beginning April 11, 2011 and posted on MSI’s official Philippine Facebook fanpage, www.facebook.com/MSI.Philippines until April 30, 2011 (12MN).

Submission mechanics

Participation consists of obtaining the highest possible scores: Wprime 1024 and 3DMark Vantage Performance setting score. All brands of hardware and platforms and any form of cooling are allowed. Engineering samples are allowed, provided that they have the same stepping CPUs as retail. Only single GPU card may be used.

  1. Screenshot to be submitted must have open windows of Wprime Result, CPU-Z CPU/Mainboard/Memory/System Date/Time & System Properties General Tab.
  1. CPU-Z validation link with contestant’s name and a picture of his/her rig must also be included with the submission.
  1. Futuremark 3D Vantage
    1. 3DMark Vantage with Patch 1.0.2 1901
    1. Windows Vista or Windows 7 are allowed
    2. Physx disabled (for Nvidia video card owners)
  1. Screenshot to be submitted open windows of Vantage Result, GPU-Z, CPU-Z CPU/Mainboard/Memory, System Date/ Time & System Properties General Tab.
  1. Vantage ORB link with contestant’s name and a picture of his/her rig must also be included with the submission.

Additional Qualifier Rules

  1. Contestants can send a maximum of 3 results over the three weeks of the submission timeframe (one submission composed of 4 screenshots per week). The highest result will be the one recorded.
  2. Final score will be computed by adding the Points gathered from the Wprime 1024 & Vantage Benchmark software.
  3. The four screenshots may be posted on MSI’s Facebook fanpage wall, with clear file names / descriptions (for example, “[Contestant Name] Wprime 1024 Benchmark” or [Contestant Name] Contact Details”.

Screenshots will be consolidated into one Album by the MSI Fanpage admins for convenient viewing, plus per-week announcement of the highest scores will be done after the end of a one-week period on the MSI wall.

Entries will only be accepted from April 11 to 30, 2011 (12MN). Any entries received after the deadline will no longer be included in the screening for the live competition participants. The top 10 contestants plus 2 backups who will be qualified for the local finals will be contacted via phone and e-mail regarding the details. The winners’ names will be posted online.
