Tips For Picking Out Evening Dresses

Every girl's closet must have . Evening dresses are a necessity for women. Classic colors that are wise to purchase are midnight blue, black, white, silver or gold. Avoid bold, daring colors or patterns and prints. Well, actually, there are a lot of criteria to consider in buying evening dresses.

1. Style

Did you know that evening dresses actually have a variety of styles? There are halter evening dresses, strapless, empire waist, princess cut, cocktail dresses, mermaids, ruffled, sweetheart, A-line or bejeweled evening dresses. Empire waist, halters, strapless and spaghetti straps are the infamous evening gowns that have ruled Hollywood over the past decades.

2. Color

Choose neutral colors. Pastels, neutrals, earth tones - these are mostly the colors that are considered classic. No matter what the occasion - be it a wedding, a ball, a black tie party, you can wear dresses with these type of shades.

3. Accessories

It would be a whole lot better for your evening dresses to have minimal accessories and beadwork. Avoid bejeweled evening dresses, or sequined ones.

4. Fringes

At all costs, stay away from ruffled or fluffy evening dresses. Stay away from styles which remind you of wedding dresses or bridesmaid dress. These types of evening dresses do not only lack the important criteria of a timeless piece: style and elegance; they also lack appeal.

5. Neckline Cut

Cut, is a lot similar to style. Busty women are advised to avoid closed-neck or turtle necks. Strapless dresses are also considered a classic.

Dressing For the Wedding Party in Evening Dresses

When you're invited to a wedding ceremony, unless you are the bride, you are either part of the wedding entourage or just one of the special people chosen to witness such a memorable event. If you are part of the latter, then, you'd also definitely feel the pressure of finding the perfect dress to wear on that special day. Well, girls will be girls, right? You'll take your friend's or your family member's wedding as an excuse for scouting for evening dresses.

Get into the Motif

Guests and visitors who are not part of the entourage need not "take part" of the wedding motif. It's another excuse to buy a new dress, right?

You can ask your girlfriends, or you boyfriend, to go with you in search for the perfect dress on a Venetian-red-wedding ceremony, for example.

For example, if you are not comfortable with going bra-less or using strapless bra, then don't choose a strapless evening gown. If you're not comfortable with a short dress, then don't get one just because that gown looks fabulous on you. Comfort is not only applicable to evening dresses. As there are traditional activities that are carried out during the reception, the need for wearing a comfortable evening dress and a pair of shoes is paramount.

Wearing a dress has a purpose other than covering yourself. Before you choose from a myriad of choices of evening dresses, ask yourself: what is my purpose? If you're heavy-busted and you want to flaunt that asset, for example, then evening dresses with low neckline would work best for you. This is a gaze-turner especially if you're looking for a potential partner.

Black is still the most elegant color but in some countries, guests are forbidden to wear evening dresses of this shade. Don't steal her thunder.
